black sensafin interior
I have booked a cancellation for a 2023 x5 hybrid and I am assured it will arrive soon and no changes are possible. The exterior is blue which I like but the interior is black sensafin. I saw the brown shades when I was at the dealership and liked those. There was no x5 there with a black interior. Any opinions on this. If I order a new one, I am not assured it would arrive by the end of the year.

black is forgiving in terms of stains but can get hot. if you live in a sunny, hot area, I recommend ceramic tint for heat rejection…nominal cost for a big improvement in comfort. window shades aren't enough.
black is very common (some will say boring), but only you can decide if you can live with it. I had black interior since 2010 and decided on coffee with my current X5 to change things up. I don't think I'll get black ever again if I have other options. |

I had a chance to grab a canceled 45e with Black Merino interior. Didn't want that. I ended up ordering Cognac Sensafin instead.
Personally, a black interior isn't very "special" looking. My opinion, of course. |

I always tell myself my next interior will not be black. But I chickened out and stayed black.
But my next one in few months will either be Silverstone or Coffee. Can never go wrong with black. Its a 'safe' colour'

I do agree with the other posters that the black is not that 'special' looking but the material itself is soft and warm and very close to leather but should, hopefully, maintain its appearance better.
I couldn't bring myself to spend another $2,500 for just leather seating surfaces (where possible). |

Just received our x45e with Black Sensafin. We are very happy with it.
We had to commit to the interior color before we saw any Sensafin seats, not even a color swatch. Our concern was that the Cognac (or Silverstone) might look artificial since they are vinyl. Now that I have seen every Sensafin color, I think they are all quite good, and would be happy with any of them including the black. We have a mineral white M-Sport with extended shadowline, so the all black and white "storm trooper" look totally works for us. Its all strictly personal, but FWIW after my wife saw all of the Sensafin colors in person, her first choice would still be black. PS - We live in SoCal so hot seats are a consideration, so we ordered the luxury seating with ventilation. After hearing many complaints about ventilated seats on this forum, we are quite happy with the ventilated Sensafin seats. Others have commented the Sensafin seems to flow better than the Vernasca. |

I used to have to go to Yuma, AZ sometimes for work (USMC support), and at the car rental desk when it was summer, they'd hand you a potholder so you could open the door and touch the steering wheel without getting burned. Wearing shorts was a bad idea unless you could start the vehicle without sitting down to start the A/C, as the seats could cause second-degree burns. Black was just not a good idea at all!

They pushed this on the 40i buyers- I wouldn't take it personally as I like real leather. But if you don't- black is more preferred over brown. For resale. |

The Sensafin is much better than the Sensatec of old. I actually prefer it over the Vernesca I had before as well.

OP, IMO, black is some what boring, but its classy and doesnt get outdated in a few years. if you plan on keeping long term, black is future proof, imo. I've seen older luxury cars over 5 yrs with unique color interior and it just looks old. Also, we have two kids, so black is safe Last edited by dream54ing; 10-05-2022 at 09:32 AM.. |

My guess is you have a dark tint on your windows...rental cars do not!
Where I live, you cannot tint the front doors or windshield either, so that makes a difference. |
