1000M Bronze Wheels on Riviera Blue M3 Competition

From the very start when I ordered my G80 M3X I wanted the 1000m frozen bronze wheels. Here is the very first visualiser photo I produced:

I kept changing my mind as to whether it would work having the frozen gold against the blue. The problem is you can never really see the interesting stuff in person before ordering in the UK and have to often just go for it hoping it works out (e.g. custom colours or the more exotic newer M Performance bits).

I recently got side tracked taking the 863m 20" wheels off my M5 (I felt the factory wheels work better with frozen silver) and investigated fitting them to my M3.

Wheel Specifications 963M M3 wheels

Brand: Genuine BMW Wheels
Model: 963M - M3/M4
Diameter: 19+20"
Finish: Frozen Gunmetal
Front Wheels: 9.5Jx19 ET20 (P/N 36108746989)
Rear Wheels: 10.5Jx20 ET20 (P/N 36108746990)

Wheel Specifications 863M M5 wheels

Brand: Genuine BMW Wheels
Model: 863M Forged - M5/M8
Diameter: 20"
Finish: Ferric Grey Matt
Front Wheels: 9.5Jx20 ET28 (P/N 36118097642)
Rear Wheels: 10.5Jx20 ET28 (P/N 36118097643)

I believe the M5 wheels need new tyres and possibly some work to deal with the offset difference. Here is a photo of the 863M on the rear:

The fronts wouldn't fit as it - (M5 are 20" 35 vs M3 which are 19" 35)

My attention went to the 1000m again and I managed to find a set in the UK to physically look at. The dealer was kind enough to offer them up to my car and there was no longer a decision to be made!

Dealer offering the wheel up for me:

Here are the frozen bronze 1000m M Performance wheels on my Riviera Blue M3:

From BMW: "The eye-catching new 20"/21" M Performance forged wheels cross-spoke 1000 M are available in Frozen Gold and Jet Black matt. This modern interpretation of a spoked rim captivates with its unique, three-dimensional design."

I'll be getting some more photos when the M Performance carbon is installed.

PS here are some other photos of the 1000m:

I am so torn for this exact reason. The 1000M wheels are so. incredibly. awesome. But I can't think anything but STi when I consider them on a blue car...like mine. Dang! If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have cheaped out on the individual paint - Imola Red + 1000M.

That said - I think these look pretty awesome on the light/non-metallic blue. Doesn't really trigger that STi vibe for me, very nice!

Absolutely love the wheels. I have an Oxford Green G80 on order and badly want these wheels, but having a tough time stomaching the cost. I think they're about $5k?

How are gold wheels a WRX thing? Porsche does it and so does Ferrari.

Not gold wheels alone, but on blue car. It's a STI hallmark

aren't they like 7-8k? for 5k that's pretty good. I think I'd go aftermarket though if I was to buy wheels (BBS / Volk). Looking perfect OP, don't worry that it has the STI color scheme, hardly see those anyway.

Give or take. 5k for wheels, tpms, tires, mounted and balance is not bad at all. A set of BC forged would run 4500$ for just wheels, Rays 6k, BBS 7k and so on...

Never really get the Subaru thing. Doesn't remind me of one in the slightest - far too much different between the two things.

They look great - I don't get it either tbh. Even still - why is that a bad thing if they do? The combination works

It looks great. I’m just goofing with the STi comment anyway (I had a 2005 WRB over gold STi and loved it)

Oooh My! I can not wait for my 1000m frozen gold wheels!!! Thank you for posting these, these wheels look awesome. Mine are going on frozen dark grey with red calipers, hoping the red isn't too much with the gold.

Your car looks awesome!!!
