places to stay in Dublin

Good Monday, collective..... I'm planning a trip to Dublin for fun not work.... I've only ever been for work so my main influence on where to stay before was ease of getting to the offices and factory. Now I want to be somewhere nice in the centre of town - any recommendations?

I did once stay in a nice hotel in the centre but even on expenses I gulped at how much it cost, is it all like that? and even now post pandemic?

Thanks

Yes. It is very expensive! City centre is the guts of £500 for a Friday and Saturday night.
Clayton hotel in Leopardstown is reasonable but it's a fair way out. It is on the Luas (tram) green line which makes it more accessible.

Depends on when you are going as I booked a couple of years ago and I think it was €180 for 3 nights. Due to Covid the gig we were going to was rescheduled 4 times and I rebooked and it cost me €580 - this was Easter bank holiday weekend just gone.

We stayed at the Temple Bar Inn on the fringe of Temple Bar.
Hotel was comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing! I love my food!

Riu Gresham Plaza nice but expensive although once again some good deals if you book in advance and at the right time of year.

I would love to help but the only time I've stayed in Dublin was on my stag weekend.
I remember something about a ferry; that's about it TBH.

Can't help with hotels, but when we went a couple of years ago, we had a great meal at the Marco Pierre White restaurant in Dawson St. The Fire restaurant opposite was also pretty impressive.

We stayed in Hilton Dublin Charlemont last summer for 2 nights. Was very reasonable and about 20 mins walk to the city centre. There was also a tram stop right beside if you don’t want to walk. Breakfast was good and a great stay.

Thanks everyone. No idea were I want to stay as no idea what I want to do, just the touristy stuff. Not too fussed at a bit pricey but I've got used to discounted prices so full price for less good hotels doesnt impress....

I'll ponder the suggestions and see what is attractive...
