G8x Coding - List of Solutions Only

It seems like all of the coding threads get sidetracked with a bunch of questions other discussions. As such, we don’t have a good list of solutions.

So for this thread, Please refrain from asking questions or having discussions. Only add coding solutions or instructions that you know work for G8x cars.

Please identify if it was done via Bimmercode or E-Sys.

If you used E-sys please list what version, launcher and psdzdata that you used (and where to get it, if it’s still available), as well as what series you used when connecting.

Please only include Bimmercode items that required using expert mode as the other options are easy.

Bimmercode I used an iPhone and the OBDLink CX

Change Color of Car in iDrive and Instrument Panel
- Head Unit (HU_HGU) > Expert Mode > 3000 HMI_SPEECH > VEHICLE_COLOR > Your desired color

Retrofit OEM Wireless Charge Pad with Reminder
- Body Domain Controller (BDC_BODY3) > Expert Mode > WcaWirelessChargingAblage > WCA_ENABLE > aktiv
- Head Unit (HU_HGU) > Expert Mode > 3000 HMI_SPEECH > WCA > aktiv

E-Sys

I have not been able to get a version of the launcher and psdzdata that works for FDL coding with either my 2022 M3 or 2022 M440i.

I've been trying to add everything I've found at the first post of the E-sys thread. Btw, for a copy of E-sys, message shawnsheridan, he'll point you in the right direction.

E-SYS

Anti Dazzle

I used E-SYS v3.30 and the Launcher Pro found here: https://bmwtune.com (The site appears to be down now but was up yesterday) and v.4.34.12_PSdZData_Lite that I got from shawnsheridan *Using this setup I was only able to do the VO coding, FDL coding doesn't work correctly*

I followed the instructions on this video. When I did the coding with E-SYS it wiped out the coding that I did with Bimmercode, but that was easier to add back in. All of the Anti Dazzle features appear to be working correctly.

I followed these exact steps. I can see the headlights are obviously functioning differently, but it is a bit underwhelming. I will edit this post later to add a video of how mine looks. If possible, can you share how yours behaves?
Or, if you prefer, can move this convo to private message and I am happy to delete my post here....

I decided to purchase BimmerUtility and try that out. Before doing anything with BimmerUtility I restored everything back to the original settings with the tool that I changed them with (E-SYS for VO and Bimmercode)

Here are the things that I have confirmed as working using BimmerUtility.

BimmerUtility

Wireless Charging Pad Retrofit
BDC_BODY3 > WCA_ENABLE > nicht_aktiv to aktiv
HU_MGU > WCA > nicht_aktiv to aktiv

Turn off Legal Disclaimers
HU_MGU > LEGAL_DISCLAIMER_TIME > id_mit_timeout to kein_ld
HU_MGU > MACRO_CAM_LEGALDISCLAIMER > id_mit_timeout to kein_ld
HU_MGU > MACRO_NIVICAM_LDISCLAIMER > id_mit_timeout to kein_ld

Show entire SMS
HU_MGU > PIM_Driving_Text > up_to_three_lines to Whole_text

Change Car Color in iDrive and Instrument Panel
HU_MGU > VEHICLE_COLOR > your default to your preference

Bowes & Wilkins Codec
HU_MGU > Audio_System > alev3_ram to alev4_ram

Anti Dazzle
** I am by no means a coding expert, I compiled this list by doing a ton of research and talking to others on the forum. Anti Dazzle is working fully and properly to my knowledge, that said, it is possible that there could be other things that increase functionality even more. Perhaps Almaretto and shawnsheridan could give their inputs. I did have to do the VO coding, contrary to some reports that it wasn't required.

BDC_BODY3 > LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y > no_AFS to AFS
BDC_BODY3 > C_BLC_PRE_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > C_AFS_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > LUT_AFS_DRV_VERT > G22_Laser_US to G011/G22_Laser_ECE
BDC_BODY3 > C_CLC_CURV_V3 > US to ECE
BDC_BODY3 > C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI > 55km/h to standard
FLM2 > Lmm1_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
FLM2 > Lmm2_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
FLM2 > Staging2_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_US_SENSITIVITY_MODE > US to Normal [00]
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH > US to Rest of world [03]
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH > US to Rest of world [02]

Funny you should ask this I was just looking on the G20 board to see if anyone has done this. Looks like its possible I am just not sure of the right way to set it up.

You can use expert mode in bimmercode to code any hexadecimal color, almost 16777216 different colors.

What is described in this thread is changing the colors that will display in the three sectors of the interior when you select a color in the iDrive menu. These three sectors are:
1. DOOR and DASH
2. FOOTWELL
3. MAP LIGHT

I've done it to my G82, but it's the same process in pretty much all the G-series BMWs.

Disclaimer: Do this at your own risk. While changing colors will not likely brick your car, if you poke around enough and don't follow these directions, you might change something inadvertently with unforeseen consequences.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a ENET cable for any EXPERT coding simply because it's FASTER and more stable. Trust me, the cable is 10 times faster than any OBDII wifi or bluetooth dongle. I got mine here and it works perfectly. You just need a ethernet to lightning adapter for the iPhone or whatever smartphone you are using.

Here's how to do it.

In bimmercode:
Go into expert mode
Select BDC_BODY3 ECU
Select 360A/LIC_LCI_COLOR_LIBRARY_DATA
Select 360D/LIC_LCI_COLOR_PROFILES_DATA
Then choose G20G21G26G28G80_Lichpacket_code1 - this is your car, the G20, G21, G26, G28, and G80 generations)

Then you need to find the 9 bites by number that represent the menu item you want to choose. Here are the BRONZE bites:

Bronze bytes:
18,19,20 - (These three represent the color in the DOORS and DASH)
23,24,25 - (These three represent the color in the FOOTWELL)
28,29,30 - (These three represent the color in the MAP LIGHT)

For instance, let's say you want your ambient lighting to be RED instead of BRONZE when you select BRONZE in the menu. Replace these bites with the hexadecimal color code for RED. You can look up the codes here.

The hexadecimal code for RED is #FF 00 00

IMPORTANT: there is a bug that the system does not code any FF correctly. Instead use, FE, which is only one value off true full RGB red. It's close enough and you can't tell with the naked eye. So, for any hexadecimal color that uses FF, always replace it with FE! If you use FF at all, the MAP LIGHT will not work. Nothing serious, and the fix easy–just recode, but save yourself the headache and never use FF.

So the RED code we will use instead of FF 00 00 is FE 00 00

You need to change the 1st set of bites - 18, 19, and 20 to make the DOORS AND DASH red like this:
Go to the 18 bite and replace it with FE
Then the 19 bite and replace it with 00
Then the 20 bite and replace it with 00

Do the same with the 2nd set - 23,24,25 to replace the FOOTWELL light

Then the 3rd set - 28,29,30 to replace the MAP LIGHT

You can use different hexadecimal color codes to put whatever color you want in each set. So you can have a different color for the DOOR AND DASH, the FOOTWELL, and the MAP LIGHT.

You can do this to all the menu color options:

Lilac bytes:
78,79, 80
83,84,85
88,89,90

Blue bytes:
48,49,50
53,54,55
58,59,60

White bytes
3,4,5,
8,9,10,
13,14,15

Orange
33, 34, 35
38, 39, 40
43, 44, 45

Green bytes
63, 64, 65
68, 69, 70
73, 74, 75

IMPORTANT: You have to code all of your menu items at once. If you go back to change or add anything, all the other menu color options go back to default.

So, once you change all your bites and you are ready to code:
Hit BACK
Hit BACK again and the CODE option should appear.
Hit CODE

I've coded my BRONZE to be pure RED, which is nice against my Fiona Red interior. I've also changed my BLUE to a CYAN color, and my LILAC to a CYAN and PURPLE combination.

Please excuse the poor quality iPhone night photos:

I've tried this a few times but can't find the "Lichpacket" that you have listed out. If you ever are doing some coding and can do a recording or screen shots that would be great.

Unfortunately my car is in the shop, and it might be awhile. Do you have a screen shot of what you see?

I was able to get this done over the weekend. You want to go into body domain, expert mode, then find 360A. Then you should see it. Keep in mind, once u change the colors I recommend you change it all one shot. For example, if you change bronze to pink, do not save it until you code all the other colors you want to do. Once you save then go back, it's basically resets everything. So do everything one shot then save it.

Thanks, I've been pretty busy and haven't had time to play with coding but I will try it out. I have to use BimmerUtility though rather than Bimmercode. (I was able to do some things with BimmerUtility that you can't do with Bimmercode, but from what I have seen in testing things, you can't use bimmercode from some items and bimmerutility for others. So I have to try to find the same options in Bimmerutility/E-SYS)
