Auto Driving Lane Change and Software Update
My X7 was produced in Feb 2019, and the software is still 07/19.53. The idrive cannot show the advanced driving assisting functions and 3D cars around your car. Also the car itself cannot do auto lane change at all. I took the dealer and the SA told me that this car cannot change lane itself and it can only assist which means I had to steering the wheel to change the lane. Is it true, the car produced in earlier batch cannot change lane? and they won't even update the software saying it is not necessary? Also this youtube video shows only after July 19 production works?

Or whether every button on the left side of the steering wheel are marked. The non-pro package X7 will have buttons that are unmarked.

Of course I have the driving assistant pro package, and I can do fine on the highway with automatic driving, and slow traffic hands off.

Now that you answered, I surely can't find a reason why it wouldn't work. Everything I can see online still states that 2019 and 2020s have Lane Change. On mine, I simply bump the turn signal stalk, not completely go up or down with it, but just bump it and that's how it activates. Hopefully others on here with older X7s can completely answer your question but everything online states that older ones still have this feature. |

My 2019 was a 6/19 build and did automatic lane change if that helps. Also, when it was new, the lane change was pretty aggressive, but after a software update later on(I dont remember when or version #), it was much smoother and not as fast. But it did work. Like blutob2 said, just lightly press up or down on turn signal, dont go all the way to where it clicks and it should change lanes by itself.

BMW screwed the 2019 owners with this feature and others. I was a 2019 G05 X5 owner and even the iDrive hardware was upgraded for 2020 models. 2019 G05/G07 were “beta testers” for BMW for the iDrive 7 . I have learned never buy a first year production or first Gen iDrive product from BMW.
You would have to be masochistic to want to buy this upcoming iDrive 8 in the first year. |

My build was 11/2019 for M50i(but model was a 2020). I am not the original owner, but BMW did CPO it when I purchased it. This usually means all the software has been updated to current versions. The auto lane switching works for me and I can see the cars coming up next to me, or when I pass them in the Dashboard.

Silly question, but are you at highway speeds when you try to auto lane change? It only works above a certain speed and if the next lane is clear. Manual doesn’t have the minimum speed requirement (only max) and I can’t remember what it it, but I do get an error in the car if I try to do the auto lane change at a lower speed. Even if you don’t have the 3D view, you should get the indicators that its working or cancelled.
Did you check the self driving settings menu to see if you even have the option to select it? I would think that if you had the option to select it, then you should have it. Relevant pages from the manual are attached I have a 2021, and sometimes the feature would stop working for some reason. Turning it on and off sometimes helped. |

Ours is 2019 X7 June build with driver assistant pro, currently with iDrive version 7/2021.62. Similar to swissguy, the 3D assisted driving view is coded. It is a quick code using bimmercode.

So are you saying it has to be coded, which even a software update cannot add it! So I have to ask the dealer to code since I don’t have the coding software. How easy it is to do the coding yourself? Do I need to purchase a coder?

I asked the dealer to update the software to the 11/21, still I don’t see the 3D view, what is going on? Who can help with coding?

I think our vehicles built in 2019 will require a simple coding. The dealership will not code it for you. You could buy the Bimmercode Apps and a connector; there are many posts on what to buy. You could do a lot of these including other features yourself; it is simple with bimmercode Apps.

I don't see that warning at all, not sure if it is because of the new coding added for the later models after 2019. I will just try to do as what others have said to program the code to see if that function will appear.
