Why do all the reviewers keep talking about 'supercars' in relation to this car because its quick in a straight line (as are the regular M5's), its so lazy. It's slower around the Nordschelife than a 718 GT4, which is by no definition a supercar. Its barely a second faster than a G80 M3.

But who actually cares about any of that, surely the magic of this car is the way it all comes together in the most coherent package since the e9x M3. I'd own one in a heartbeat given the chance.

I still wish they had a factory ring time. The sport auto time doesn't look good next to the AMG's factory time.

Other than that, a great video from Rory! Almost one year after BMW officially unveiled the car.

They have to compare it to supercars because there's no competition in its own class. This thing is a beast. BMW delivered an amazing car. Wonder how the M4 CSL and M3 CS will perform.

It's certainly faster than the Bugatti Veyron around the ring, and that certainly was one of the first genuine hypercars ever!

Straight line acceleration isn't too important, I agree, but many of the modern supercars are kind of shitty to actually drive. I have never driven an M5 CS and wasn't too deeply in love with the M5 C but I can imagine with the right tweaks to the way it feels, it could be more fun to drive than certain supercars so I get what the reviewers are trying to convey.

If there's a sedan to have, the M5CS is the one.

I’ll take that a step further and say they aren’t shitty to drive, they are shitty to get in and out of. I’ve driven Ferraris and Lamborghinis and I always feel like it’s easier to just fall out of them and stand up than to get out normally. Not practical for a DD but they aren’t made to be.

It's in the super car power realm, that's why. Comparing it to a P car Lambo or Ferrari is just what people do even though the M5 is not of their genre. I think it's pretty incredible what the M5 offers while maintaining comfort.

Not all of them but a lot of the $200-500k exotics are just lame these days. 488 and F8 are both completely boring at any speeds, the Aventador has always been an absolute turd...these cars have zero feel for the road, understeer instead of moving around in any interesting way, the turbocharged modern exotics have significant turbo lag and don't make any interesting sounds while some of the N/A ones like the Aventador in particular feel absurdly slow. I honestly didn't tell anyone how much I hated the first Aventador I drove because I assumed it was just broken but the second Aventador S I got to drive was the same, somehow the Huracan feels much quicker (that one's not half bad aside from cramped driver ergonomics).

I'm not saying any F90 M5 variant is necessarily better than those types of cars, only that I can see it as possible that someone's tastes may prefer it because it also is not much worse than some of the more lame cars in this category.
