0-60 time for M850

The literature states the 0-60 times for a 2019 M850 convertible is 3.8 seconds. Is this accurate or is the time faster due to the fact that BMW trends to be conservative with their times.

A lot of variables here to contend with. I think you can default to a little bit quicker but best way to actually find out is buy a dragy unit and go test it. My X5MC was faster by .1 than a friends X6MC even though it was to be faster. So you can only know after you test it out.

BMW is always conservative on their times as is Porsche. BMW has the M850i Gran Coupe listed at 3.7 but Car and Driver has timed it at 3.3. I would guess the convertible is about 3.4 given it’s probably a little heavier.

Driver skill has a lot to do with it, and weather conditions. After getting 6k on my M850 gran coupe, I and the dealer's shop foreman went to a car event where we could drag our cars. He could get 3.1(0-60) out of my car, and I could only get 3.6 after 4 attempts. Reaction time, launch set up, and just driver skills can get different results. So much for me thinking I was a great driver....LOL

I'd sure like to know more about this. Your shop forman should not be able to get anything better than your times providing the traction was there. There's only one way to put it into launch mode. there's a certain RPM that the motor sets itself and all you do is hold the gas down the brake on and release the brake. I've only been able to get 3.47 0 to 60 and often wonder if somehow I'm not actually getting into launch mode. There is supposed to be a way that you can use the dial by the cruise control to turn the RPMs up from 2800 to 3200- 3300 but I can't figure it out so maybe I'm really not in launch mode. There's no light on the dash that reads launch mode and I think they're supposed to be??

Hit dsc off button, gear lever in s (push to the left) hold brake and push accelerator all the way down. Lift foot from accelerator within 3 seconds. You should see a finish line flag show up and the revs hold around 3k. Can use the acc follow distance buttons to set the revs up or down (left side of steering wheel left or right of cruise speed toggle). Here's a half ass attempt in my GC with two heavy car seats and slight slope

So it's not the cruise control button but the rest I've done. I always have it in Sport plus but saw a video where it automatically will go to sport plus when in launch mode? No finish line flag. I'll try this next time I go for a spin. Thank you!

Finally got the book out. I don't think I've pushed the gas hard enough to engage it. Video shows launch mode engaged in cluster and also a flag. Never seen either. Now I'm dying to try it 🤦*♂️😅
