Pictures of Trailer Hitch and Spare Tire Storage Area

Here are pics of my 3 day old X6. There is no spare but there is a nice storage area. I was initially concerned about the lack of spare.....but I can't recall the last time I used one. The 4 hold down sliding cars fit into a molded storage area when not in use. Also some pictures of the trailer hitch. Sorry for the poor angle it was pouring all day and I had to take them in the garage.
This is my first BMW.........WHAT A COOL CAR !!

Thanks for the pictures and congrats on your first BMW

Please post some pictures from further away to get a better look at the trailer hitch once you have some better weather

Car looks beautiful bak. The hitch seems much more hidden than I would have imagined - was that installed by your BMW dealer?

Storage space also looks nice.

The white exterior just keeps looking nicer and nicer with every white X6 I see. Beautiful!

I agree. I was expecting it to stick out a little more as well.

Please post some rear pics from a little further away so we can get a better idea of what it looks like

Thanks for the pics. I contacted my dealer and go in next week to have the hitch installed.

I decided I would do the hitch/bike rack, so I could still tow wave runners, kayacks, etc. Plus I thought the bike carrier that uses the tow hooks in the bumper would be too inconvenient to use. I like the idea of connecting the rack to the tow hitch in simple order.

I will post pics once completed.

The X6 has 2 plugs, one flat style 4 prong and one round. I have no knowledge of the X5 sorry.

They both have the same purpose? i.e. Just to accomodate two different styles?

I though the round was the standard.

I've seen both types, but on different types of trailers.

Yeah I read up. The basic 4 pin is for small trailers. The 7 pin is for additional running lights and e-brake.

The X5 just has the round 6/7-pin receptacle but includes an adapter for a flat 4-pin plug. It is a fairly large adapter as it has to include the electronics to convert from separate brake lights and turn signals (6-pin) to integrated ones (4-pin). I guess the X6 has the electronics built in if it has both receptacles. The seventh (centre) pin is for electric brakes; it isn't always used.
