Dreams

I've been having a lot of weird, random dreams lately. No idea why. So I figured I'd make a thread about it.

What are some memorable dreams you guys have had... and what do you think they mean?

I'll go first about a couple of dreams I had last night - if any of you have ideas on what these dreams mean I'm all ears :

Dream #1:
A good friend of mine, me, and some guy were on a team participating in some sort of competition.... like a race through an obstacle course. And somehow she was like a magician walking tight ropes. Like literally running across tight ropes as if she was running on solid ground.

I THINK we won the competition - but I'm not entirely sure.

Dream #2:
This one is even more bizarre. We have a sprinkler system installed. And in my office, I have these external speakers that look like this:

Name: 20211005_090919.jpg
Views: 1127
Size: 156.7 KB

For some unknown reason, I replaced the sprinkler system heads with these external speakers. Unfortunately they weren't very stable so anytime water shot out of the speakers they'd topple over.

Am I going crazy?

I'd be permabanned if I discussed my dreams on a public forum...

I've been having such bizarre disturbing dreams lately. They wake me up. Most of the time I don't remember them in the morning, but I get these bits and pieces that pop up in my brain which I can't quite grasp.

What are some of those bits and pieces?

I wonder in what way dreams are reflective of someone's normal thought process. My wife has a lot of anxiety in general, and her dreams are usually pretty negative. Me on the other hand, I can't remember the last time I've had a "bad" dream. My dreams are usually just weird, or happy, or both.

Weirdest dream I had was when I was home visiting my parents one weekend.

I dreamt I was in a hallway (carpeted hallway mind you) in the house that I grew up in from when I was 6 to about 12 yrs old, but for some reason, the hallway was a bit longer than I remembered and there was a mining cart (you know, the ones on railway tracks) just hurtling towards me. Yes, for some reason, a cart on rails with carpet underneath made perfect sense to me at the time.

Naturally, in my dream, I dove out of the way of said mining cart.

Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of sleep walking, and as it turns out, I was out of my bed at the time. So when I dove out of the way in my dream, I regrettably *actually* dove out of the way in real life too. It would have no doubt been impressive if there was a camera recording me.

As best as I can figure, I dove literally across my bed, but hit my head on either the side table or a chair, causing a gash just above my eye and knocked myself out for an unknown period of time. When I woke up (by the way, the room I was in had no windows and was completely dark, like a sensory deprivation tank), I could feel liquid running over my eye which I correctly assumed was blood, but couldn't see anything because it was completely dark.

So I wound up trying to brush the blood away with one hand, and then feeling along the wall with both hands, trying to get to the door, leaving bloody handprints all along the wall and carpet. Because I was still a little concussed, I had no idea which way the door was, so there was a lot of shuffling along the walls of the room. According to my brother, who had to clean it up while I went to the hospital, it looked a bit like a murder scene.

The whole family still laughs about it today.

Perfect timing.

Last night, I dreamt that I was at a bar and I had a beer with Senator Joe Manchin. Definitely in my top 5 weirdest dreams ever.

Sheesh. Murder scene was my first thought as well

I swear to you, I work up at 2am this morning and tried to fall back asleep. While I lie awake, I thought "I'm going to make a post about dreams"

My dreams (that I remember) are all sexual.....I may have a problem

You were going to make a post about your sexual dreams?

I think I heard somewhere if you sleep on your stomach, you're more likely to have a raunchy dream. I haven't tested this theory since I hate sleeping on my stomach - I feel like that's a sure way to strain your neck... or suffocate.

I think it depends on whether they involve his wife or not. If not, no, he probably isn't going to say anything in case his wife browses the forums.

I do have repeated dreams that I get in a fight with someone and when I go to pull back and punch, I can't actually throw the punch. My arm just won't move and I get knocked the F out.

in my experience, dreams are the biggest load of nonsense in existance... they are straight up fake news.

They never come to fruition and 99% of the time don't make any sense whatsoever. What's worse, we don't even understand from a scientific perspective how dreams work... at all.

Bad, violet. Stranger(s) chasing me through buildings and neighborhoods trying to hurt or kill me. I am not an anxious person, I am not a negative person. I've had a screwed up couple of years like everyone else but these violent dreams are new for me. And very disturbing.

I have a reoccurring dream that has been going on since I was little. It only lasts a matter of seconds and I can be dreaming of anything and suddenly it will shift to this:

I'm in a car, unpside down (as in the car is on it's roof), I can see an intersection lit by gas light, it's raining - I can see and hear the rain, I can see the reflection of the gas light street lights, in the distance, on the wet cobblestone street. When the thought hits me - you know the first thought after an accident of "Oh shit, I've f*cked up." I instantly wake up.

This is the only dream I need to mention. I suffer from PTSD, my dreams would drive normal people insane.

I dunno... I feel like that ads to the mystique. The fact that we're not fully able to understand what they are or why they occur. That to me makes it even more fascinating, because there's no doubt that they do occur.

As a heads up, to those who live in medicated states and experience bad dreams. THC suppresses the REM cycle, thus suppressing nightmares.

Also, The brains functionality does not stop, even when you are asleep; it shifts gears in order to remain active. Just because we are asleep doesn't mean the brain sleeps, it is very much still processing information during our sleep. When people try to run, throw a punch, etc. while sleeping and realize they can not, this is due to sleep paralysis. Although not completely understood, sleep paralysis was thought to prevent a person from acting out their dreams. This obviously isn't the case with everyone.

Has anyone ever had an episode of sleep paralysis?

It's happened to me once and was the trippiest shit I've ever experienced. I "woke up" and heard people outside laughing and generally having a good time. When I decided to get out of bed to peek out the window and see what was going on, I couldn't move.... at all. I could hear the laughter and could look around my room, but I couldn't move. At that moment I thought I was dead.

Then I actually woke up, the laughter was gone, and I was able to move. It was the weirdest experience of my life.

Maybe its related to being in NYC all the time and the alley ways and sky scrapers etc etc.
I got robbed by Macy's when I was 21 and I was terrified of NYC for years but there was no violence whatsover they just conned me
