Who got rid of what and how’d you make out?

Sort of off topic, but who has taken advantage of the crazy used car market and gotten out of their cars and into a G8X?

I had 4 payments left on my M550 lease and just got out of it with $2,500 in my pocket. Now I get my MSDs back much earlier too.

My initial plan was to swap out of my M550 but by the time I got my G80, I only had 4 payments left and BMW doesn’t let you swap out with less than 6.

Never thought I’d make money on a buyout but here we are.

Who else and what’d you get out of?

I traded my M4 comp for a new X Drive M4. Handed it back straight away as I'm able to do without a car until the end of year when I get the new one (Individual paint so long wait)
I decided to cash in on the crazy prices at the moment. My car was just out of warranty and needed a main service so the time was right. The extra money I got put me in a fully optioned (minus CCB) car, for once I felt I acctualy did ok in the car world. However BMW had stopped the dealer contributions so I guess they clawed some of the money back.

sold her '19 M4 for $8+k above lease buyout. but that was 6 mos ago. now...theyre selling for a few thousand more than we got. of course...6 mos without payments tilts it even more in our favor. but 6 mos without an M has my wife giving me a YUGE side-eye. so glad i bought her a Civic Si manual as a daily worker a couple of years ago....

Sold my wife's 335i convertible for 14500.00 and got rid of my Seven series with 145k for 10k. Tired of holding on to all of these old cars. I still have my 04 X5 with 195k but not getting rid of it. That's my daily and Lowe's run vehicle.

Sold my 19' M240i to Carvana back in March for $3500 over what I owed and placed an order for a 21' M3 Comp. All together I got 7% off MSRP (5% off plus $1500 in rebates) and .9% Financing through BMWFS. Car took forever to get here but it was so worth it.

Sold my 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid with 50k miles for $4,500 to a dealer I connected with via TrueCar. Dealer turned around and listed it for $7,995 and it looks like it sold within a couple days. So basically I traded a fully functioning car for less than the plastic PPF on my M3.

What made you sell the M8? How did you like it?
I'm considering one now, just 5 months into my M4. . Not that I could probably get one now anyway with the allocation and chip shortages.

I sold my last M4 in December and drove my Jeep Cherokee until May when I picked up my new one. Not that would have driven the car in the Ohio winter anyway, but it was a LONG PAINFUL 5 months in that Jeep. I was so ready to get the new car. And now I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to an M8 although can't imagine selling now with likely no M8 until the spring.

I posted there, but...

Honestly, I was kind of bored with it. Outside of the raw speed (and the good exhaust note) it kind of seemed a bit soul-less to me. I loved the luxury, but I really didn't find myself dying to get back behind the wheel to drive. I have an allocation for a G82 Comp. AWD, and I'll most likely go through with just because there isn't much else out there. I am going to test drive a few things, but I don't have much hope that they'll pull me from BMW.

Purchased 2020 911 S October 2020. Took it to dealer 3-4 times for clicking noise. Finally had enough and demanded a buy back. Porsche said no. But dealer offered me a full refund. Took and refund and ordered a Dravit/Orange loaded G80 M3.

Walking away with 47K in the pocket (money down and payments made) and not sure if I will buy my G80 or lease it. The leases dont seem very good these days so I am leaning towards just buying it this time.
