I'd be careful though...as much as I love the V1, Virginia has been getting a lot of Spectre RDD's, and the newer V1's are VERY detectable, due to a manufacturing change from a couple years ago. If you are going to use an RDD, unfortunately the only stealth options are the Bel STI or STI-r (custom install) or the Escort 9500ci (custom install).

Here's hopin' V1 gets off their laurels and comes up with a solution to the Spectre...its been years now.

My V1 is hard wired through the cigarette lighter adapter, using V1s hard wire kit.

I just hardwired my Valentine 1 using the fuse tap method. Worked like a charm. It is much simpler than I thought it would be.

I initially tried the DIY mentioned above but after trying to remove the damn light fixtures without success (and actually cutting my finger while trying to reach for the metal clip) and hearing about the possible issues with the sunroof operation, I decided to go the fuse tap route instead.

Only part I had to buy was this one

Let me know if anyone needs photos of the install and I will try take some. All and all, a simple install. Also it does not require any drilling contrary to a E90 DIY states.

If you use the fuse tap method, do you still need to use this inline fuse connector included with the V1?

I ended up using the fuse tap on slot 7, the homelink slot on my E90. I kept the inline glass fuse (1 Amp) and put a 5 Amp fuse in the piggyback adapter. Seems to work just fine.
