Question - Best Time and Place to Buy Truck Tires...?

Hey Guys...

What is the best time of year (holiday sales) and place online to purchase truck tires online...?

Obviously you get better deals buying snow blowers in the summer and lawn mowers in the winter, but, for something that might not be so seasonal such as truck tires, I'm not sure when to start shopping around.

I'm not in any hurry, but I would like to have them by the winter season. Maybe I'm thinking about this all wrong, but I feel that, the closer it gets to winter, the less of a discount I would get.

If it matters, I'm looking at the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, in 33's...

Thoughts...?

I have no idea about when...but discouttire.com has some of the best pricing and customer service around as far as I am concerned. I have been using them for a little over 20 years and I have never been disappointed. Their certificate program, basically tire insurance, is awesome as well. IF you get it, its $25 per tire but it covers the tire for punctures, defects or whatever. A few years ago I was on my way home from work and managed to get the ass end of a knife stuck in my sidewall!

I called them up and they said we'll replace it, do you want a cert for that tire? I said yes and I had a new tire in like 2 days! I essentially got a $200 tire for $25 bucks & free shipping no questions asked! So if you are going to buy tires this would be my first place of choice. Good luck

Tire Rack (tirerack.com) is where much of my fortune has gone over the years. Of course, I had my own tire-mounting machine back in the day, when I was going through a set of tires every 6 weeks.

With the hassle of paying for local mounting/balancing, I have found that the price of tires at our local truck tire store are competitive enough to save the shipping hassle. The local shop offers free rotations, puncture repair, and will even check the pressures if you pull up and ask them. They can get most tires delivered same-day, or worst case overnight. Shop local, buy local.....

That picture looks like it belongs in the dating or divorce threads.

Tirerack.com or discounttiredirect.com. In my area there is a Tire Rack warehouse, so you can get a discount if you go pick up the tires yourself. I think last time I got them it was $20/tire off.

Best time to buy is spring/summer. Everyone is putting new tires on their trucks/SUVs in the fall and winter to get ready for snow.

ANY PLACE that offers a nice warranty that covers rebalancing and rotation, repairs, and replacement.
I'm in the US, and go to Firestone religiously.
I throw all the cards on the table..
Head there around veteran's day and get the %10 vet discount.
Coupons..

And since I'm an i3 owner, they are the only ones that make my tyres.

If they stock the size you need and brand you want, Costco is also a good choice.

costco usually has solid deals, and Ive gotten good deals on ebay in the past.

Tire Rack usually has a sale or 2 as well.

The only problem with Ebay and Tire Rack is you then need to pay to have them mounted. I just recently started going to a different tire shop and they will match pricing for tires from tire rack, and will typically give me a better price on mounting if i buy the tires from them.

Yeah... Tire Rack is my "goto" as well, but they dont carry the Nitto Brand for some reason. I always ask about the price match as well.. this issue is, a lot of places still wont match in my area...or they will jack up the mount/balance costs. And, if they have to special order, then that's another cost...

I'm looking to pickup a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers 305/55R20 's...

Time it with your preferred manufacture's rebates. Michelin, Bridgestone, BFG, etc all rotate having $80-150 rebates every month. Michelin and Continental are doing $100+ off on tirerack, costco, etc. Last month it was BFG and Goodyear.

I have used TireRack since I bought my car in 2007 (sponsor of this website, has an ad up top) but recently a DiscountTire opened a little closer to me and I had a great experience with them. Great prices and great customer service.

What size are you looking for? I have looked for what I normally get for a while and have never seen them on sale (305/55R20 or 285/65R20)

As I mentioned in my previous post, Tire Rack does not sell Nitto's.. I have a Discount Tire near me, I'll have to take a look and see they carry them.. To answer your question, I'm looking for the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in a 305/55R20 ...not the 18's as you have listed.

I'll check out Discount Tires...

Yeah I've noticed the same, smaller brands like Nitto, General, Falken, etc rarely have discounts outside of something like Black Friday.

When I was getting Grabber ATXs for my truck, the only sale in 6+ months was in November.

TireRack used to sell Nittos as that is where I got my TerraGrappler G2s for my Truck in 2016. This last set I got at DiscountTire just last December so I know that DiscountTire does sell Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Also --- I meant R20.... My truck has 20s my car has 18s.

+1 for Discount Tire. Got my BFG K02s for my FJ there. Very good experience and got $100 off through the Discount Tire rep that posts to the FJ forum.
