Paint chip on new Mode black chrome exhaust tips
Purchased a set of black chrome no logo exhaust tips from Mode. Ordered from and delivered from Australia. Admittedly checked only one tip and left the other three boxed until today when my installer went to instal them plus several other items I have been accumulating. Small chip in the black chrome at the very end where the tip rolls inward. Given that I ordered from Australia looking for options to touch up versus trying to return and reorder.
Any one have experiencing doing such work and recommendations? Thought about looking for high temp gloss black or black chrome paint and judiciously touch up myself. |

If Mode is open to sending a replacement why not just get them to resend and wait for the new one to arrive. Not like the car isn't drivable.
Depending how big the chip is the paint either won't stick or will be noticeable.

I also just got the Mode black chrome tips and had a few bad "spots" like you mentioned. They aren't visible when looking at the rear of the car so I just said F it and put them on.

Well, I contacted Mode Auto Concepts in Australia when the defect was first discovered. Unfortunately no response as of yet despite two attempts by me. Suppose caveat emptor for those considering a purchase in the future. Will update if I hear back from them.

Good luck with the replacement. That is not good to hear that they have not contacted you. Cool to see more folks going with them on the stock back box. I got mine a few months back and it really looks awesome with the stock box painted flat black.
The stock ones on the M2C are not aggressive enough. |

Heard back. They asked for pictures to determine next steps.
The email I received from Mode Auto Concepts: "Sorry to hear you may be having issues with the tips. Please provide us with some images so we can take a look for ourselves. Kind Regards," Picture sent and will keep group posted |

It was more like a defect in the electrocoating process more than a paint chip. |

I ordered these tips as well, pending delivery any day now. I wonder how much abuse (chipping) they can take from just normal wear and tear due to driving. Any one have a 6 month+ review to share?

2 of 4 tips with blemish
Finally received my Mode exhaust tips! Overall, they look really nice. 2 of the 4 have plating issues. Mode offered a $50USD refund or they'd replace them if I shipped them back on my own dime. Given that they took a month to arrive, I'd be looking at potentially 2 months to receive new ones, and I have to pay shipping for the return. Not exactly ideal customer service. I'd think they would also fix their plating process after numerous complaints.
