P2196 P2198 codes after DPs

Hi, just installed Keller primary and secondaries and am getting these two codes now. Has anyone kept their car running long enough without a tune to see which CEL codes they received after downpipe installs?

I am new to the F90 platform, prior to this on my F80 the codes would always be in regards to post cat O2 sensors. However P2196 and P2198 are for the pre cat O2 sensors.

Any experiences with these codes? Just hoping there is nothing else I am missing, I thought of a turbo leak possibility but checked the vband clamps/repositioned the install so many times by now.

Only mods besides the DPs are charcoal deletes.

Yes I’m on catless downpipes for 800 miles and one track day with no tune or piggyback and only faults are bank 1 and 2 catalyst efficiency

You aren’t using spacers are you? I tried the fabspeed mini cats and got o2 slow response faults

Why are guys removing this stuff without a tune, I don't get it... A tune alone is the biggest mod you need?

You need new O2 sensors... Usually removing the CATs and doing downpipes or headers (NA cars) will fry the O2 sensors for some reason. This happened on my C63 when I did long tubes, O2s went out of spec.

I'm using spark plug defoulers (1 stacked on top of the other) - on the secondaries but am not receiving any codes yet in regards those, only sensor 1s on both banks.

This has worked for me in the past on a F30 and F80, but who knows with the newer ECUs

Doing it for the exhaust and turbo sound for now. As for tune I thought the new ECU hasn’t been cracked yet.
I didn’t think the o2 sensors were fried because I didn’t get a code immediately after- it took a few days of driving for the codes to show up.

ECU isn't cracked, but you can use a JB4...

O2's won't die immediately, they usually died after a few days of driving or so.. Im not sure what causes it.

Change the 02 in one bank, if code is gone, change both. Signal is stuck rich, means the sensor isn’t reading anything other than a rich mixture.

I believe so, I know what you’re talking about. Kellers DPs actually pushed the heat shield cups upwards slightly compared to stock,, that’s how I’m thinking that the bottom opening of the cups are definitely flush to the DP threads.

Those codes are normal if you run catless without a flash tune.

I know this is resurrecting an old post however are there any implications to running catless DPs without a tune/piggyback? Waiting for the ECU to be cracked in the states so I can get a custom tune.

Should be none except for the annoying CEL. Some say o2 sensors might go bad but who cares since they will be useless anyways unless your state has emission control and you will need them back on.
