Oil leaking under transmission splash shield

Got an oil leak near the transmission but I haven’t taken off the shield yet to check where it’s coming from. Left the car for a month sitting while I was on vacation, was left with a big oil stain on the cardboard under the car. This piece behind the shield also seems to be oily. First thought is that it makes a lot more sense to actually take the splash shield off than it does to shotgun guesses

Seriously though—it could be a number of sources. Is it motor oil for sure?

If it is engine oil that far back, could be rear main seal. If it is that substantial of a leak from sitting, you should be able to clearly see the source once shields are removed.
