Oil leaking under transmission splash shield
Got an oil leak near the transmission but I haven’t taken off the shield yet to check where it’s coming from. Left the car for a month sitting while I was on vacation, was left with a big oil stain on the cardboard under the car. This piece behind the shield also seems to be oily. Thoughts ?Attachment 2666559

First thought is that it makes a lot more sense to actually take the splash shield off than it does to shotgun guesses
Seriously though—it could be a number of sources. Is it motor oil for sure?

Does it smell like transmission fluid or oil?

If it is engine oil that far back, could be rear main seal. If it is that substantial of a leak from sitting, you should be able to clearly see the source once shields are removed.
