Dies anyone know how much the glass windshield costs on a m850i?
considering ppf for $1k on the windshield, trying to see if it's worth it. |

That said $1K for PPF on the windshield is ridiculous. Perhaps their quoting Exoshield which is different than just plain PPF and specifically designed for windshields. I looked into it when my M850i was on order but ultimately decided to pass. I follow the guy from Obsessed Garage and he put it on his GT3 that he picked up while I was waiting for the M850i. Here's one update on the Exoshield but if memory serves he ultimately had it removed. That said with a $0 deductible on glass with your insurance I wouldn't waste any time with PPF on the windshield or any other protectant. They all have their downsides after thorough researching them so the zero deductible on glass is the best way to go. |

Not an M8, but OEM glass on my '19 M5 was 1500, so I'd expect at least that much. Progressive wanted to put in aftermarket glass and wouldn't budge on the OEM, so I had to pay out of pocket too.

figured it was more than 1200, less than 2000; 1500-1750 sounds about what we were thinking! thanks!

The $600 sounds like more in-line with the pricing I got for Exoshield from my detailer that did the rest of the PPF on the car. Once again though zero deductible on glass with an installer that will fight on your behalf for OEM, e.g., my dealer in my case for the wife's X5 gets the job done. However, worst case is if your insurance carrier fights against the OEM on the zero deductible glass coverage just file a comprehensive claim (mine's set at $200 but $500 is reasonable as well). Even the comprehensive option is cheaper than Exoshield without the drawbacks once installed.

The other consideration is like every other part m850 windshield is back ordered. Mine was ordered June 24th and still hasn't come in.

I have Clearplex for my windshield - costed $350.
The film tends to oxidize and wear easily. If you don't do anything to it, after about a year it tends to look scratched and gross. Using wax tends to prolong it more. |

Talked to Madico, manufacturers of Clearplex. Not supportive of their own product for my use. Had 2-layer Windshield Skin by Bray applied 2 months ago for $600. The negative of all these products is debris on windshield film and w/w will scratch the film if use w/w frequently (commuting). Applicator tells me I am a good candidate because I don't commute so less likely to have debris on w/w scratch the film. Make sure to spray windshield before using w/w especially in dusty, light rain conditions. Done 5 track days since w/ no problems. Applicator looking for me to get 1 1/2 years on it. If I do, I'll be satisfied. $600 for a $150K car for 1 1/2 years is good for me. |
