Put full armytrix PRI and SEC catless DP + armytrx exhaust, TOO LOUD!

Hey guys,

I put in both primary and secondary dp catless armytrix on my f90 + the exhaust and its way too loud it scares ppl on the street lol.. Plus i dont like the gas smell.

i booked an appt to put back the stock secondary downpipe.

With the primary only being aftermarket, am i still good for stage 2?

Thanks

P.S

This is what the car sounds like:

Actually doesn't sound that loud in that video haha!

Does that exhaust have valves? With closed valves still way too loud?

About gas smell, yeah I cannot deal with it personally. I was catless for 4 years on my M4, and I'm done with it. M5 for sure do not want to smell.

I think you should still be good for stage 2 tune only with secondary left. Or there is an option for catted primary cats, but they are $$$

Just a thought.
Can't you just weld in some hi flow 200CFM cats somewhere further down in the system ?

With a proper tune, I have not found catless to be particularly smelly. Without a tune for it, the smell is bad. I am under warranty so I probably won’t experiment on the M5 yet but am following these threads.

Couldn't you just tune out the pops? I assume that is what is the problem...could save yourself some $ since you're wanting a tune anyway

This is what I was looking to do, would be interesting to find out if someone has done it.

OP, my car is booked at Evolve next month for a custom stage 2 tune with stock secondary DP's, will let you know how I get on.

High flow primary cats are also an option. I have those on my car (200 hjs) and no smell

Good to know. My wife says I ruin my cars — exhaust too loud and suspension too stiff. Then I buy another one and try to resist modding but usually can’t hold out longer than a year. With the M5, I lasted 2 weeks, but it was only a JB4. I have snuck those on my wife’s car before and she has not even noticed so I knew it was safe.

But the exhaust and suspension mods I am trying to at least delay. I will look at using one set of high flow cats when the time comes. Hopefully there will be some data on primary cats secondary by then. I could extend the rear 02 and add a bung past high flow secondaries if that worked for obd2 and also gave better flow than high flow primaries. Cost is high for HJS, though they are very good.

It may be that the OP erred by doing an cat back plus catless primaries and secondaries. I would not have done that — it’s generally been too loud on other cars when I have done it. I’d probably choose the performance of catless and leave the car back alone. Or try to split the difference and use just 1 set of high flow cats.

Yeah did high flow primaries with secondary delete and full exhaust system from there. No CEL yet, but these cars are so well insulated or something that I still sometimes want it louder…then I hear it from the outside and I'm good haha

Redstar. Will likely be a 5-6 week wait if you go that route, but customer service was superb. Quality is great. Fit was pretty good with some very minor modding of the car's heat shield with a file. Sounds great, too!

While AA claims huge power gains, no dynos or discussion of testing is provided. These are 400 cell cats so I would expect limited gains. The piping may be larger and the secondary cats are deleted so they should be better than stock. I would not buy before seeing testing.

Do you have to do a tune to replace the stock down pipes with a catted primary and catless secondary?

No. The purpose of the tune it to make more power off those mods so you're just going to get the sound and not much performance, you might even feel a small performance loss from the reduction in back pressure.
