2006 E91 Wagon, Suggestions for a Rear Bumper Protector?
I have a new to me 2006 E91 Wagon, a 325xi, 6 speed. The car is in great shape, well maintained. I have two cosmetic issues to take care of. The rear spoiler is peeling clear coat, as is the top shelf of the rear bumper. Both need to be resprayed, and will be soon.
I've owned a wide variety of "sports wagons" over a few decades. On almost all of them, I've had an OEM had rubber protective cover on the top of the bumper, protecting it when loading things into the car through the rear hatch. Any suggestions? I've done some searching, and have not found what looks like what I'm looking for. Did BMW offer this as an OEM option? Thanks for any input, very much. Excited about the car. |

Welcome!
You're talking about something like this? There seem to be generic versions of this on Amazon. I've never seen an OEM version for our cars. This might be an occasion for someone from Europe to chime in as they have a lot more wagons over there and may be better in-tune with BMW dealer accessories (which would be the only way I can think that one might find something OEM like this). |

Yes, that's essentially what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the Amazon suggestion. I'm familiar with a couple and there tend to be problems with the quality and the adhesion. At least in my experience. Just tried on on my niece's Alltrack. Not great. She decided to go with a OEM dealer option. There is a UK built "rearguard" made by RGM, aka Richard Grant Mouldings. They are pretty nice, but made of ABS. ngpracing.com sells them in the USA. Not really what I'm looking for though. Have been a fan of the hard rubber ones ever since the one on my gone but not forgotten 1995.5 S6 Avant. Maybe I'll need to jury rig one with some cutting to fit? Thanks. My son pointed me here. He has a 328xi six speed wagon. Almost twins. |

I've got this one on my 2010 E91. This is for LCI, not sure if there is one for pre-LCI.

That's pretty nice looking. My hunch is that it will fit. I would take a chance on the fit at that price. How long have you had it installed on your car? Any issues? Thanks very much. |

If you get it, post back about the fit. I have a pre-LCI too and could use something like that.

I've ordered one. I'll be able to "scope out" the fit pretty easily but will not actually mount it until I have the bumper resprayed. That won't be for about a month.
Thanks for the help! |

I keep movers blanket section in the trunk.
Or the whole thing if I need to haul 4x4x8 in my E91. cheap, simple, effective. Last edited by POBEP; 06-06-2021 at 01:29 AM.. |

Over three years and it still looks almost new. Has worked great to protect the bumper from doggie toenails.
