Improving the launch to get into the 9's

As we start to take drag racing more seriously, we have started to look at other areas where we can optimise our cars for maximum performance. One of these is one that is often overlooked, even by ourselves - Wheel Alignment.

We headed to Center Gravity to speak to the suspension guru's, get the car on their equipment and have them do a bespoke alignment on the newly fitted ACM x JRZ RS One Coilovers designed to give the car maximum grip from a launch, something we definitely need!

Can this one simple change make all the difference?

It’s an old, well known trick. Less negative camber for more straight line grip. But handling is not as good. Maybe it is fun to chase a number, but I see no point in saying you have a 9 second car when it is only 9 seconds if you fill it up with race gas, swap to R compound rear tires, change your alignment, etc.

Increase your front tire pressure. Run skinnier front wheels. Take out the passenger seat and rear seats. Make sure there are only 5 gallons of gas in the tank.

Did 9 seconds on Dragy App on pump fuel, 1/4 tank of it, full interior and 21 wheels with PS4S in wider than stock sizes on stock pressures. The same spec I run daily.

Dragy seems well accepted these days, like the old vbox. Dragstrip vary considerably. Some are record setters and some are slow. My local one is slow. I typically have more traction on the street. They don’t spend the money on prep for street car days/nights like they do for the professional days (NHRA in the US).

9s in full street trim is great for a comfortable 4 door sports sedan. Is that with the built motor or stock motor?

A high 9 is very good!
And the alignment guy seems to know what he is doing.

Fantastic video. The technician really knows his stuff. Wish someone here in Hawaii would care even half as much as this guy does.

if you look at their previous vids evolve claim to have taken the built one out for further testing of stock limits and they are just testing stock stuff right now.

Probably blew the motor then, that would be the reason to take it out
