Exhaust Mods

The LCI is too quiet and doesn't give off any pops during overrun.

A Milltek or Akrapovic system would potentially void the warranty and they're also expensive. Is this true?

That said, is there anything I can do to regain those awesome sounds of previous M5s and my old RS6? Maybe the purchase of some light exhaust modifications...

Cheers

Those exhaust systems shouldn't void your warranty. They are very similar to the m performance exhaust and are basically sound mods.

I specifically asked my dealer about this before I installed my Eisenmann system and they said they didn't care. That's been a while ago, so maybe speak to your dealer to make sure? But for the reason above, I don't see why it would cause warranty issues.

Thanks! I'll give the dealer a call and double check

Exhaust do not void the warranty, i recommend checking out the REMUS exhaust. Best sounding system in my opinion

The actual problem here, with the LCI, is that BMW actually mapped out the pops and bangs, so even by fitting any aftermarket exhaust, you are not going to get the sound you are after. Those exhausts wouldnt void your warranty, as long as you dont remove your OPFs. Im not sure if anyone is able to remap the LCI either yet, and by doing that, you would be able to have the good sounds back, and more power, but, and its a big but, you are definitely going to blow your warranty. Its a damn shame regarding the sound, as all the videos you watch on here, that are not in the EU, make it seem so unfair, as we all want the full fat sound .

That's strange, my LCI M5 does pop when I let off the throttle (Sport+) and when I downshift. I guess not as much as the pre-LCI but it's still very loud lol.

What would be the motivation to map those out? Seems counterproductive to sales, unless they want to sell "upgrades."

All to do with emissions in EU. Very frustrating.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I find it very hard to believe that pops and bangs contribute anything, even cumulatively across the entire world, to the detriment of the environment. Much like CFC ban for asthma inhalers.
