Improving Takeoff and Response
I really enjoy the acceleration while in motion, but the hesitation on take off feels delayed sluggish and leaves me wanting more. What have you done to your car to improve this and how big of a difference is there?

That pic is magazine worthy (cover, article, center, you name it)
you've tried the 'kick down' launch control thing? Only other thing I can think of is high rpm, but yeah it takes a moment or two to shoot forward |

Nice pic!
Engage R for Race....... On a serious note, does anyone know if there is a gearbox remap for these yet? I think XHP did one for F series cars. |

I always just put my car in sport when I need the faster response, there is a very noticeable difference.

The only way to do it is by putting the engine in sport mode. You may code your car to always start in sport mode, which is what I did to my wife's car. That throttle response is extremely intoxicating.

You may need the M550i then. It seems you are looking for better low-end torque which only the V8 can provide.

Only flash tune will give you the responsiveness you are looking for

I have a 19 540ix M sport and if I’m in sport mode and motivate the car with my right foot it’s a solid performer. If that does not float your boat likely it is time for a V8.
This is my DD and fast enough for me to enjoy but nothing is really as fast as I want it. I also like getting 22-28 mpg. (Virtually all highway and 70% sport) It’s a $/performance trade off that has been around as long as cars have been built. I’m not tuning it either bc it will be picked up and will void the warranty. |

Sluggish Throttle
If what you're experiencing is what I'm experiencing, then I feel your pain.
I have Bootmod3 stage 1 ACN91, feels great and throttle is responsive, but I don't like the dead pedal feeling when I smash on the gas. Its as if there is a delay between when you depress the pedal and when the car says "oh you want power?" then it kicks in. I thought a tune would alleviate the problem, but it doesn't. I'm thinking about purchasing an xHP tune for the transmission, but I doubt that will change anything. I'm guessing the real solution would be a pedal tuner like the one from BMS, Injen, or FTP. A tuned 540i has plenty of power for my needs, it's just that dead area between flooring it and the throttle actually opening up that I don't like. A freaking truck was able to cut me off at a Red light because he was able to take off at the light change and my car hesitated for about 1 sec before I would've blown the doors off it. |

I swear BMW automatics start in second gear, so...

Until I did this, it felt like the car was starting in second gear and then decided, once full throttle was detected, that it should switch to first. I haven't seen any car magazine articles in which they prove BMW's start in second gear.

Get a PHEV ;-)
I know you are not looking to change your car, but just so you know: I went from a 540i to a 530e and one advantage of the PHEV is the instant torque from the electric motor. The 530e is of course not as fast the 540i, but it feels MUCH more responsive and quicker off the line.

Launch Control is the only way to overcome it; or increasing idle a bit by tuning or completely changing the torque distrubution towards lower rpms. But as long as the gas pedals are not wired directly to the throttle there will be delays. Pedal commenders or using a linear curve on tuning maps for pedal/throttle percents can solve the problem.
