Would you have a door ding repaired?

I got a pretty good door ding on my car at work. I work at a hospital with separate visitor and employee parking. I park in an employee lot so it was most likely an employee. I've had the car for about 2 1/2 years and the first few months of ownership I feared this. I'm sure to the regular driver this probably wouldn't even be noticed or cared for. But for us enthusiast it's like the drivers door was smashed in!!! First pic is before I cleaned it up with scratch remover and wax. I got a couple online quotes for paintless dent repair and they were both 400 and up. I'm sure this is due to having to take the door apart to massage the metal back into place.

I would have it pdr'd. $400 seems high.

I, too, thought it would be cheaper in FL. Usually no need to take the door apart.

I picked up a ding on my F32 at my office after about 3 years. It was right on the body line of the driver side. Ugh. It was about $900 to repair because paint was required.

Enthusiast + driver side blemish = must fix IMO

In that particular location especially I’d have to get it repaired. I can’t imagine looking at that every time I went to open the door.

Yes. But it should not require paint so should be cheaper to fix.

PDR...find a tech with good rep in your area. Someone with good skills can work miracles on a dent like that one.

Yeah! I would pay to repair. My car not brand new and I'm still parking far away, just to reduce chances for that.

Don't be that guy that lets his car go to waste. By staying on top of things, the car will be attractive and enticing to you for years.

I bought my car with scratches...but I take good care of what's under the paint.

I wouldn't find it worth $400 to me, though I probably would open up the door and bang from the inside, while having a friend on the outside holding a block firmly against.

Stipulated: I do stupid things sometimes that I shouldn't.

You may be able to get a better price if the door card needs to be remove by removing it yourself. You could check with the PDR provider to see if that would improve the price. In any case I would get it fixed.

Fix it! I'd think <$200. May be more b/c of the curve where the ding is but something like that would drive me crazy. Might get a discount if you have other dings on this car or another one fixed at the same time. Or go in with some buddies and have them all done at once.

Of course, it happens, but sometimes it is another one also trying to be away from the busiest and disputed zone in the parking lot. It is unavoidable, but I try to minimize the chances. Let me know if you have different suggestion, not counting keeping your car at home.

I had two done at the dealer for $200 using PDR. It is pretty reasonable here in Chicagoland as there is a lot of competition for this process.

I'd shop around for a better price on PDR. I had my fender done for $200.
