Just got my M850i!

Hi everyone. I just recently picked up my M850i and would like to share the joy! I absolutely love the thing and it's versatility.

What mods should I consider first? I plan on getting M-Style AutoTeknik carbon mirrors but I'm absolutely stuck if I should get rid of the Cerium grill. I feel it goes very well with the Sonic Speed Blue!

Congratulations and welcome to the 8-series club as they are truly great cars! Do I spy a Fiona Red/Back interior? It's hard to tell from the shot for sure.

You're absolutely right! I never really liked red interiors but seeing this shade in person changed my mind.

Same here as well in regards to red interiors. However, the Fiona Red/Black interior on my 2020 M850i coupe was really only one item I somewhat rolled the dice with. I fell in love with the color via the BMW configurator but could never find a 2019 on the lot at the 3 BMW dealers here in Phoenix with that interior color. Thanks to the pics on this forum and a few reviews with the Fiona Red/Black as well I ultimately decided to build my M850i around it.

It was a bit of a winding road to finally land the Tanzanite Blue with Fiona Red/Black M850i coupe I absolutely love due to a few BMW SNAFUs (several older threads covering that). That said I've yet to encounter an inquisitive party asking about the car in parking lots, etc. that was not blown away by the Fiona Red/Black interior. It brings a smile to my face every time I'm behind the wheel and I'm absolutely sure it will be the same for you.

It sure does! One thing I've noticed is the attention this car gets, whether it's a thumbs up at a light from the guy next to me, or people dropping their jaw as I pass by; it always makes me laugh and smile!

I know on your car you had gotten rid of all the Cerium parts, but what do you think about going full shadowline on the Sonic Speed Blue? I photoshopped it on my car to give an idea and wanted to hear other's opinions on it. I am so stuck on the fence! I definitely want to get CF mirror caps, so I figured that having a black grill would match nicely. Name: IMG_3958blk.jpg

Both of my M850i orders included chrome trim as I thought it would make the colors "pop" a bit more. The 2nd build with Cerium was a head scratcher for both my CA and myself as that was not part of the order whatsoever. However, the theory is that they didn't have the bi-color wheels in stock that was on the order that triggered the chrome as the car showed up with straight cerium wheels. Thus, my dealer swapped the bi-color wheels from my 1st order which was still on the lot.

That said I couldn't be more happy with the full shadowline post the cerium eradication program. It makes the car look a bit more stealthy vs the cerium or my original thought process with chrome. Live and learn. If you go with the CF mirror caps I'd definitely remove the rest of the cerium as well. The cerium grew on me while waiting for the parts to arrive and the mirror caps definitely tie in to the grill from a front perspective view of the car. Hence if you go CF for the mirror caps you'll loose that aesthetic vs your photoshop'd rendering with the shadowline grill.

You will absolutely love the M850. A great daily driver as well as weekend "gentleman's racer". I have Tanzanite Blue with Shadowline and carbon fiber trim, but the Cerium looks good with the Sonic Speed Blue.

I have a GC on carbon black (which is more blue) on Fiona red. It never stops turning heads. The license plate helps a little with that too 🥳

I am not a fan of the cerium exterior trims (in fact I de-ceriumed mine soon after I got the car), but for the rest any color combos (inside/out) look amazing on THE 8 because it is such a head turner car. High gloss black shadowline exterior trims is where you are at (carbon grille is also a looker especially complementing the carbon pack). Indeed that Fiona red is right on, especially with a darker exterior color.

I was happy with the curium grille as it breaks up all the dark. I had an option of two and went with curium elements. Too much black but cars are absolutely personal tastes 👍 my wife went all black on her 4 series

Yes I get you. In fact a couple of friends told me the cerium grille looked absolutely fine on my M850i and that I should have kept it! So indeed it is absolutely personal taste. I wouldn't have wanted another sapphire black car (our previous E92 and F32 were) and with both of them the wheels were on purpose not black because I felt it would be too much. Currently my preferred darkest colors are carbon black and tanzanite blue. On both of these I think the high gloss black shadow line is spot on.

Same here, i.e., when I picked up my M850i in December 2019 that was back in the day when I actually drove to the office daily. Of course fellow co-workers were inquisitive about the car so several conversations ensued in the parking lot and when I explained that I had parts on order to replace the cerium grill, mirror caps, side fenders and rear exhaust some said "why? as it looks great as-is".

Like I said it had grown on me too while waiting for the parts but at the end of the day I'm 10x happier with the full Shadowline.
