Who’s still running MHD v5 e40 map?

As most everyone knows, MHD comes out with different versions and revisions on their current off the shelf flash tunes. I’ve had MHD since around 2016/2017 and there have been many diff versions and improvements of the app itself/maps they offer. With that said everyone knows that the most aggressive map is the V5 e40 map. I’ve spoken with MHD and one of their reps told me they recommend you always run the latest version of your map that’s available.

Long story short, as the years went on, more mods were added to my car, one of them being Motivs Flex Fuel kit with a continental ethanol sensor. I loved the fact that I could just fill up with either 93 or ethanol and not worry about the specific blend bc of the map I was running. With that said I saw a lot of timing corrections and low boost targets with the flex fuel. So today I went back and flashed the “old reliable” v5 e40 and the car feels just so much stronger, less timing corrections and higher boost targets. Same ethanol content, same tank of gas, same outside temperatures, same everything.

It just got me thinking and wondering how many of you guys are still and have been running v5 e40.

Any input is appreciated!

Logs? i know you were having issues previously with the flex map being no where near target boost. Would be interesting to see the difference.

That log is v5 e40 right? Almost cracking 20 psi on that run!!!!

But yeah as I mentioned on the MHD log thread my wastegates are shot, just waiting until it warms up a tad to install the new stage two hybrid VTT turbos. Here’s the most recent log, I believe on the flex fuel maps I was hitting around 12 or 13 psi and on v5 e40 I was hitting around 16 almost 17psi. Car just felt so much stronger and all the timing corrections were basically gone. One minor correction on cyl 5.

I ran it before getting custom tuned. It's the fastest OTS map no doubt. 12* of timing with 20 psi peak is pretty legit it's close to a custom tune besides the fact that the boost tapers down.

Are the V5 pump gas maps more aggressive as well?

100%. Why did you end up getting a custom tune? Are you on upgraded turbos? I’m being told that with my stage 2 hybrid turbos I will need a custom tune. I was under the impression because they were the same footprints/in the same housings oem turbos as they are a hybrid stage 2 with a 15t wheel that I didn’t need a custom tune.

That’s a good question, I’m not sure, I would assume they would be since stage 2+ is stage 2+ and e40 is just the duel you are choosing to run. Flash your car back to a v5 93 map and let us know your findings.

I'm full bolt-on with inlets, outlets, and meth. Custom tune is required to squeeze the max power.

Have you tried V7? It's my favourite for pump gas maps. The boost comes on much more violent then V9.

I’ve not tried V7 ive heard good things about it though. I’ve only tried V8 and V9. I felt V9 was alot more powerful than V8

Yeah 8 was terrible. My car hated it. I drove 9 for quite a while also. It was smooth for around town. Recently went back to 7 and it's still my favourite. My car idles smoothest on 7 and the way the boost comes on is awesome. You should definitely give it a try.

For a pump gas tune I really like the V7. For an ethanol tune, I love the V5 E40 tune...it's a beast! I recently switched back from the V5 E40 to the V7 93 tune for winter time. It feels like the car lost 50hp, and the low end torque took a big hit also.

I haven't tried any of the V9 tunes yet.....not sure if I will or not. The V5 E40 tune makes gobs of HP and TQ....and my logs always look great. I've hit 20psi a few times with that tune....it makes big power!

I find that the boost comes on more violent in V9 in 3rd gear than V7. I'm currently on V7.1 now to give it a try from V9. Found that V7 idles smoother, drives around town smoother, and is very linear. (Stage 1+, 91 OCT)

V9 felt like it was slower at low speeds but once you're in 3rd gear, it feels like boost comes on really strong and pins you to the seat. I felt that V7 was more linear and smooth overall but still felt that V9 was stronger.

I've heard of people feeling that V7 is stronger/faster but it felt like the opposite for me. Could just be placebo or in my head.

Still trying to decide which version I want to drive on...I do not have the logging capabilities with MHD, can someone confirm the changes/differences between the 2 versions?

V7 is more aggressive in building boost, but if your looking at timing and boost psi, then it's higher on V9.

Personally prefer v7. Just run whichever one you prefer, they are both good maps. Also data logging is a Must on MHD in my opinion, well worth it.

Bear in mind 91oct maps will have the least performance out of all the maps.

If ya'll are curious about the power between maps, I ran the following 1/2 mile trap speeds FBO. Car was reading E60 content, maps were:

v5 E40 - 145 mph
v7 E60 - 139mph
v9 E50 - 143 mph

Ill clarify my post, my ethanol content was E60 in the tank according to my sensor and I ran the following maps:

V5 - E40
V7 - E60
V9 - E50

Maps? We don't get e85 pumps here so I am wondering how or if you use ethanol?

Thanks! I'm sure it would be expensive and inconvenient. Best we get here is 94 octane so I usually stick to that with the 93oct maps.
