E91 - Tweeter Upgrade Part Number Help

Just called up to order the L7 Tweeter upgrade to my 09/2007 335D Touring

I was given the price for the DSP Tweeter £90.45+VAT and he reckoned that was the full kit including the grilles (?)

Is the DSP tweeter the L7 tweeter? i.e i'd like to fit the best tweeter, as i understand the price difference is negligible and i'll be upgrading the amp at some point.

The part number given to me was
65136944462

I've looked on Reoloem
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...30&hg=65&fg=20

And i can't see that this is correct.

Sorry for being a pain, but can someone with an E91 confirm what part numbers i need for the L7 Tweeter upgrade to basic hifi system (i.e the one without a tweeter) in an E91

Thanks in advance.

If it's the same as the E92, you have to buy replacement covers at the mirror which come with a built in grille, the tweeters are sold individually but you should be able to get each one for about £40 including VAT.

You need a new foam seal for the covers as it has a recess in it to take the tweeter and an extra cut-out on the edge for the cable but, as gIzzE has said, just use the original foam inserts and cut out the holes required - that will save you about £12. You can see my experiences here from post # 55 onwards.

Have a look there for the part numbers for the new trim/grilles.

gIzzE, does that kit include the tweeters and the 2nd set of rear speakers to bring it up to the equivalent of the Hi-Fi option?

Don't buy any upgfrades for the rear speakers, when set up properly you will cut the rear high level out anyway.

That Alpine upgrade is and amp and front speakers, not sure if you can buy the speakers without the amp though???

My plastic 'corners' in my E91 extend from the corner over the door/window frame and down the door shuts unlike the E92 which are just 'corners'. This may explain an increase in price for E90/91 over E92 for these plastic parts if being quoted with speakers from BMW.

Looking at the pictures on this site they supply the amp, tweeter and front speakers plus the grilles. Is this correct?

Once again, thanks for answering (good way of getting the grilles part numbers)

But.....as usual...more....

What model/specs of amp is that? i.e is it a good substitute for the 555 and will it drive SWS-8's under the front seats?

I had planned on doing it the Blaupunkt way that you did and wrote up so well, but if you think this is as good, suits me.

Thanks

The grilles are for the saloon/touring and they are the seperate part numbers listed at the bottom.

The foam that people are ordering is already in your car, you just need to pull out enough to pop the tweeter in, saves £20 and you only end up throwing one lot out.

misterS3, where did you order the parts from? Note that you'll have to cut out a circular recess in the existing foam and a small slit at the bottom for the wires.

Would it have been Park because they only ordered one tweeter for me because the description on their system says "tweeter - set" which is a bit ambiguous.

Yeh it was Parks and i'm guessing you're the "very clued up guy with the E92 who even hard part numbers" who ordered last week

Just had a look close at my car and the plastic bit on the inside of the car, which is opposite the mirrors i.e where the tweeter goes, appears to be attached all the way around the window frame too?

I'd assumed it was just the triangle in the corner. Confused.com!

No you get the whole lot, comes in 2 parts, the trim and a grille, however in that Alpina upgrade I presume that part number includes both bits.
