Wheels should be a stickie!
Considering the Savini sv-f4 20x9.5 for a winter setup. I think I can do it for 3400 or so. But I found these, Asanti ABL-13 in 20x9 ET35. Does anyone have insight if these might fit? My concern is that they are rated at 1600lbs. But the price certainly seems right at $260. I called element tire about them, and they said they didn't fit but he also said the Savini bm-14 don't fit, so I don't trust what these online retailer say about fit verbatim. Just had our first snow/ice storm in Northern VA. I have the 21" with A/S setup stock. I must say the X7 performed quite well. I tested it out in multiple ways, I was impressed with the reaction of the vehicle, in almost every case it performed the way i was requesting, and did an outstanding job responding to the environment i placed it in. One thing you cannot prevent is sliding on ice, but when it did i had an easier time correcting than i did with my Supercharged A6 Allroad with A/S's.
For our sporadic snowfall the A/S will be a good choice for many, for winter environments like the NE, i would image a good snow tire setup will go a long way, plus last longer than the A/S's lol. |

I suppose I could put A/S on my 22" and call it a day. I'm still searching because I can't decide!

I bought the staggered Pirellis for my 22 OEM wheels and they were great during the snow storm this week. I am used to driving with the 19's snow wheels but the 22s were good

If my X7 came with the 22's and performance summer tires, I would get a second set of snow tires based on where I live now. The A/S's definitely work well enough since I already have them. But if I were getting a second set anyway, might as well get a set that is purpose made for snow/winter weather.

In addition to the snow, don’t forget that summer compounds shouldn’t really be exposed to cold weather. I’ve read 30-40 degrees is about as low as you want to go.
Also, don’t forget the tread your saving on your summer tires by swapping them out. |
