Orville Redenbacher would be proud of that M5.

Regardless if the Porsche was underperforming for whatever reason, this is still really impressive for a sedan this size and weight. The 911 will still eat it with ease on a windy track though.
Makes you wonder, are we approaching the max performance that a car this size can perform at? I mean whats next? 0-60 2.6? Then what? 2.4? 2.0? And they only keep getting bigger / heavier as well.. |

For real. I just picked up a 992 and my m5 has been sitting in the garage for the last week.
the M5 is a great car and frankly one of the best all around vehicles I've ever had but the 911 is simply more engaging and fun full stop. 1k miles in 3 weeks since I picked it up. |

The fact that the M5 Competition pretty much eats that Porsche up is crazy. What is Porsche doing? I'd be pissed if I spent so much money on a Porsche and an M5 kid hauler embarrassed me like that. I don't care how "engaging" the Porsche is.

Stock vs Stock the Turbo S is a solid 1/2 second faster in the 1/4 mile and ~20 seconds faster on the Ring. When you start modifying both, depends on how far you take either platform. There are a few 911’s running 8’s in the 1/4 that are daily driven. But there’s probably a Honda Civic running 7”s somewhere so it’s all relative. Has a modified M5 run an 8 yet ? |
