Launch control?
How do I know if I have launch control / how do I use it?
I have sport+, I have paddles. I tried putting it in S1 and stood on the brake and then stood on the gas and then let go. It launched for sure!, but it also seemed like it was just brake torqueing against the transmission, and it didn't hold the revs or give me any indication on the dash. |

Drive mode in Sport+
Shifter to the left Stand on brakes Accelerator all the way down to the kickdown button (you will feel it click) Revs will hold and launch control with show in the dash (little race flag) You also need a warm engine and minimum miles driven since the engine was turned off, I think it's around 5-7 miles. |

How often is it safe to use launch control? I've heard it's pretty hard on the car and that there is a lifetime limit? I have a 340i xDrive and have only used it once. It was absolutely insane!

Depends on if you're leasing or owning. hehe
Seriously: I'd be scared to buy an off-lease 340i or M340i. They must get beat to hell. I know the cars can take it, but still.... I have a 2016 328i and I've NEVER used launch control, even once. If I had leased the car, I'd imagine things would be quite the opposite. |
