The seats do not look as good as the buckets in the new M4.

The difference in tires alone between the Competition and CS could account for the minuscule difference in lap times.
it is amazing what a 4 door Sedan has been able to do in terms of performance envelope. For my uses I will stick with my 2020 M 5 competition and it's Uber comfortable seats and still awesome performance. However great the performance of these sedans becomes, it is still not a substitute for a true sports car. Of course there is no reason that it needs to be a substitute as people can choose which ever vehicle they like. Hats off to BMW for continuing to improve the breed. |

They seems to me like the exact same buckets as the G8X

The seats, although very enticing, seem out of place with the F90. With a mild tune, properly set up coil overs, and comparable tires, I’d think one would be a good deal ahead of the CS. But I like that BMW pushes it for bragging rights against MB, etc. and keeps with their racing heritage.

I read somewhere (can't find article back), that the gain is mainly due to adapted software in the AWD system.
But overall, the very small improvement in laptime wrt the competition is a bit a let down, certainly when it will cost about 20% more than the competition. |

Time will tell on what the CS actually has as improvements over the regular M5 Comp. I'm curious about the embossed Ring on the headrest of those seats. It must be there for a reason.

bucket seats, nice. not sure if they go with the M5 but cool to have that option if you want it.

I don’t really understand this model, can’t recall ever seeing an M5 at my local track. I mean it’s cool and I would love to have one, but just doesn’t strike me as the kind of car to be caring about tenths in

What's the point of an M5 CS really? Isn't the point of an M5 to be fast and comfortable, yet this thing ditches the comfy seats for buckets and tries to be a track monster, huh? I bet this will demand a decent premium over the vanilla M5 for a slightly different tune and different seats. Hmmm, interesting

I am actually excited for the M5CS. I do hope they learned their lesson in regards to pricing from how poorly the M3CS sold (but I am fully expecting it to be $15-20k more than the M5 comp). If I get the M5CS it will definitely see track time!
