Exhaust is def louder now that is permanently fixed.

My car is at the port, I wonder if it will delay the boat ride?

Is it recall for sure too?

I'm was going to pick up my 2021 M5 Comp on Friday (Nov 6 2020) when a delivery stop notice came in for the same issue (fuel tank ventilation). My dealer, as well as the posters in this thread https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1772705, have said that there's no timeframe on the delivery stop nor is there a fix.

The older recall was for the fuel PUMP. This stop-sale order is for the fuel tank VENTILATION.

So no, unfortunately BMW does not yet have a fix for this new issue.

Tell me about it. I have over 30 M cars/suvs that were ordered and just came in that can't be delivered because of this mess.

I don't even want to count how many are still on the way

Glad I came here. Same problem, soon as I sealed the deal they hit me with a stop sale. I looked up, down and all around... nobody knew about it (allegedly). At first I thought it was a gimmick as I seen the vehicle reposted for a whopping $7,000 more than what we agreed to. But not knowing when a fix is available is rather sad, especially when other members here apparently have had it fixed before. Maybe the dealers can negotiate with corporate? Lol... yes that last statement was selfish, but necessary.

Once more, this is not true. The issue that was addressed previously (I think in 2019) was for a fuel PUMP issue. This one is related to the ventilation of gasoline vapors via the fuel tank VENTILATION.

Best,

Interesting. I had same issue after a track day and got a cel. Actually came on in middle of track day but i didnt notice any issues so kept going. Hooking up the obd port an issue with the evap emissions control came on. I reset the light and havent had an issue since.

Well, I thought they finally fixed it, but the CEL just came back on today.

First time they replaced the bank 2 fuel tank vent valve (shorted). (oct18, 8k miles)

This last time, (oct20, 35k mi) was replace venturi line, fuel tank breather and pressure sensor.

Now the light is back on again.

Good grief. Nothing like a good reminder that we are driving supercomputers with wheels. Good luck with the fix. Was this new occurence post a track day or just random (and did they try to attribute your previous issue to track use?)

I was simply replying to what another person posted about the ventilation issue after a track day. Not sure why your are over asserting yourself about a fuel pump I never mentioned. Thanks though.

Hey sorry it came across whichever negative way it did. That was not my intention.

To clarify, I just don't want anyone to conflate the two separate recalls and be at risk of thinking there's a solution already, and potentially making purchase decisions accordingly. The reason I mentioned fuel pump is because that was one of the most recent recalls for our cars that has since been resolved.

Thanks for the clarification. I made the deal, then the sales manager says we can't move forward and gave me a very uninformative reason why. Literally said "there is a stop sale, something about emissions". I spent days trying to figure out if his statement was legit because one day later the same vehicle was reposted for $7000 more than the deal we made. I was ready to file a complaint because I asked via email what the issue was and no answer... searched many forums, nothing...sent messages to BMW social media accounts, nothing... I called multiple local BMW dealers and they said "we aren't sure, we need you to bring the vehicle in". Lastly, I decided to call BMW's customer service line and finally someone actually gave me credible information. I was going to come here and post about it, but glad to see the community was talking about it already.

I'm trying to be patient, but I get calls from 10-15 different dealers every day trying to sell me an M5 and not being straight up about this situation. Look at this text message I attached. He/she didn't even say "we have M5s available that don't have this issue, would you be interested?" Nope... just wants to get my money and put me in any BMW they can sell me.

Anyway, I'm going to try stick in there and be positive that things will soon be resolved. If it gets to January and nothing yet, I think I'll have to call it quits and move on from BMW. Not interested in other models, although I'm sure they are great however, after my wife reluctantly told me to buy the car I really want instead of the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport... "I thought you wanted a BMW?" Man I felt like a kid on Christmas morning! How could I settle for a different for a different model after all of that? 😞. For now, I'll live vicariously through you all and continue to stare at pictures!

And this makes it just a tad bit worse... already bought Dinan exhaust, H&R springs/spacers, reflector deletes, and was making arrangements for Noelle Performance tune. Lol if commit to some BBS or HRE wheels then I'll have to wait forever for the fix! 😂😂 man my wife is going to kill me!

Jeez, your dealer sounds really shady! I’m curious, what was the date of your transaction? Wondering how soon after the release of the stop-sale order on Nov 5 it was. In my case, my dealer’s Sales Manager was frantically calling my SA while he was showing me around the car while F&I was supposed to be getting the papers ready. They were decent enough to not want me to process any papers as soon as they found out.

As for waiting till January... I really doubt it’s going to be that long. From all the facts, I feel that this has to be a software fix rather than requiring the production and distribution of hardware. It affects only M-cars, from a wide window of production, and are built in a variety of plants (and continents). Given M550i’s or 850is, or 530i’s aren’t included I really think it’s an issue with the M tune.

Obviously I could be wrong, as this is just a hypothesis based on limited facts.

Don't worry! It'll be faster than that... they can't wait until January to move these off the lot. You waited for your dream car, give it a few more mins Awesome wife btw!
