440i Stall and Won't start
Haven't find anything on this yet but I got out of gym today, and forgot I was in gear I started car and and let go of the clutch without putting it in neutral obviously the car creeped forward and stalled (done this couple times cause I'm still new to manual and usually park in neutral with hand brake up, I forgot to check the gear cause I was tired asf and this is the first time I gone to the gym since COVID). Then I attempted to start it up again and it wasn't starting up, it was attempting to start but failing to and threw an error message of automatic start malfunction, I tried couple times and same thing keeps happening. After that I turned electronics off and tried it again luckily it started, but there was some weird noise, sounds like air releasing when reving, I got home no problem trying to rev the engine couple times no issue and that weird sounds is still present, never heard that sound before when I rev. Anyone encountered this issue can let me know what's going on? Should I call my dealer and let them take a look?

The dual mass flywheel has built in component protection which you may have tripped. I've gotten the flywheel component protection code just from spirited driving but it didn't prevent a start. It's a DME code as opposed to a CEL.

I guess the starter gear didn't release and is now spinning with the flywheel. Not good. The starter is underneath the car, just listen if the noise comes from there.

Appreciate the unique response, I don't think there is noise coming from underneath, but there is some weird noise when accelerate that I never heard before.

Can you hear the noise just when driving or as well when revving?
Can you produce some sound files?

So I took the car to dealer today and they just did a software update since they can't reproduce the sound anymore. This is stupid cause now I have to go back to bimmercode to code everything all over again. On the other side, they give me an M340i loaner, that thing is a beast, makes me wanna switch.

Bimmercode doesn't pull the codes it's Bimmerlink which you have to buy separatly
