Hi,
Im not too sure if I like these problems or not as I find generally they appear again at the worst possible time.

Started my F31 up this morning and all was good drove it about 3 minutes and the i-drive info flagged up there is a problem with the engine fan. It didn't seem too much of an issue as it states you can continue your journey - which I did.

A few minutes (possibly 5\10) later the error reset itself and now its gone. Does this refer to the radiator fan and if so is there a good way to test the condition of it? Or is this a sensor that could be playing up?

If the error's gone, then don't worry about it until it stays permanently for you to diagnose. That's how I personally get on with with modern cars with sensors everywhere and on everything.

Thanks - would it be referring to the actual radiator fan do you think?

Yes, when it refers to "the engine fan", I'd take it to mean the radiator fan.
