Buying new (to me) wheels... some questions
So I'm going down to buy some used 624m wheels, pretty decent condition but I'm getting them for a STEAL if the person ends up being legit and i check them out in person
So they're the 20's, sitting on pirelli p zero rf sizes 225/35/20 square. I have an xdrive car so it'll be nice to have the same sizes for simplicity sake Now he says they have about 1500 miles on the tires, if this is true, about how much more should I expect the tires to last? I don't drive super hard or often, and I live in Austin Texas so it's never cold/snowy just hot and rainy. On top of this, if you look at the picture where you can see DOT, the date manufactured says 1215, am I not to believe that's the 12th week of 2015? How could these wheels only have 1500 miles and be 5 years old. I understand that sometimes when stock doesn't move often, older wheels get put on, but is this something to be concerned about There is some curb rash, which is more noticeable on the black but for their price i don't mind. So in that case, how do I repair/fix the curb rash? anyone have simple remedies I can try out? Also, he says there's no tpms, I drive a 5/2014 bmw 428i xdrive so where can I get cheap/used tpms? Looking to spend less than 150 if possible Lastly, is there anything else I need to look out for? Thanks in advance

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. To each his own I guess.
I would not run those tires personally though, too old. I'm sure they'll be "fine" as in they'll be safe enough to not blow out, but they're old enough that there is no way I would put them on a performance car. The flexing of a tire by driving it redistributes the oils within the tire carcass. They've obviously been sitting for a number of years so that action hasn't been occurring. You are not going to get good performance out of them. |

Man that black car looks like a donk haha!
FYI the photos show the wheels with TPMS valves, that said, nothing saying he cant remove them i guess... and the last photo the tyre isnt on the bead... Tyres should last a decent amount off time, and they look like they are in ok condition for being 5 years old... not sure how harsh your concrete highways are but id say 10,000 miles is realistic ? Wheels will need to be refurbed but if your not that fussy a black touch up pen would take your eye off it. |

I am worried about the tires but if others have good success, then I don't mind, I'll just keep one of my current wheels in my car just in case

While the curb rash will kind of be annoying their price is just too good to pass up and I'm still stuck on the stock 393 style 17's and need a new look

I know I mentioned that I don't drive a lot, but I want to clarify and say I really don't drive too much as much of my life is very close. Only times I'd be driving far would be back to Dallas where my family is but maybe only 1-2 times a year. My thoughts are I'll have them for a year or two, and then try and sell them again after the tires go so I don't have to worry about it

Lmfao I wouldn't be surprised. I do actually like the wheels, even if they're not the best. But I see why some people dont like them

-the sets I was able to find did not have a good price at the time. -the wheels would not be compatible with my other, who also uses the car (I think 20" wheels would require drivers who can do parallel parking without kerbing ) |

I would walk. If someone tries to save the money for the tpms he probaly bought these tires used, laying for years in someones cellar. And the condition of the rims it not great either since a fix of polished rims is actually not that easy.

At £400, I'd definitely take them (the prices I was looking at were all over £1000!)
And if you're not too particular, simple touching up with black will remove the rash. It's the easiest colour to gloss over |

At least spray some varnish over the scratches before water starts the corrosion and lifts the paint.

Update for those interested
Picked up the wheels today, in good condition, no bends or cracks which is good since the wheel design is very intricate More curb rash than I thought, probably still reparable, but for 400 bucks, these are MILES beyond my 393 style 17's I ordered new center caps from amazon and they fit like a glove. The tires are all good, but the interesting thing is that it's not a square set up. One of the tires has a 255 width tire on it, which leads me to believe one of the bmw techs when they replaced the tires misread the sizes. Pirelli's font makes those 2's and 5's very similar so it would be an easy accident to make Regardless, they got me home 160 miles with no issues so in the mean time they'll be ok No tpm sensors like the seller said, but had to make sure. Just ordered new ones, should get here Monday. I already have some square Continental dws' I plan on swapping out, which sucks cause I kind of wanted to keep the p zero's. They're actually not bad compared to the cinturato p7 all season run flats I previously had Will have pictures up after a quick wash and another update as to what I can actually do in the next week!
