Blow by oil smell after pcv upgrade.

I decided to upgrade my pcv valve even though the car had no symptoms of a failing pcv. After 2 days, I began to smell blow by oil from my tial blowoff valve. My old pcv valve never did this. Apart from that, the car holds boost and no smoke or oil smell from the exhaust. Is this normal with an FTP pcv valve? I installed it without shaving the back piece and it was a snug fit. Any suggestions? Thanks!
