You really have no choice but to wait now. You’re lucky that he is paying you back. They are going on your record though. You should have taken your plates. Usually they would apply for plates and have temp plates. I don’t know what you were thinking

For EZ pass, just unlink the credit card. For plates, you are basically screwed. What you can try is to tell him that you are cancelling insurance and the plates will pop up as uninsured which can lead to the car getting impounded if ever checked.

Notify the DMV. At the very least you want it on record that you're no longer driving the car and that someone else is. Every state is different, but there's probably a statute he's violating by not re-registering the car within a given time frame after assuming the lease. Notify the dealer as well, technically they own the car.

Try talking to him, and ask him to expedite the process, and that you will be cancelling insurance etc. Looks like he is a nice person, and has paid you for the tolls etc and might be genuinely delayed with the plates.

Great points. I'm actually calling the DMV shortly. I called the buyer and he explained the situation how they did the papers but the DMV is taking too long. And he's worried because he needs to register within 30 days himself.

Calling EZPASS as well

I don't have insurance on it. Everything legally is on his name. I just spoke with him and the DMV is just taking forever. He and I are callign ezpass to explain. We also realized his new tag reader isn't working so that's why this is happening in the first place
