Tons of smoke coming from engine, ETA: rod smashed through piston :(
I am 99% sure I lost piston rings on cylinder 5.
29D1 - DME: Combustion misfires, cylinder 5. 2AAF - DME: Fuel pump, plausibility. 2D2E - DME: Throttle-valve angle - intake-manifold vacuum, correlation I had to stop due an accident on an interstate. Speed limit: 75. I punched it, I did not over rev it but I pushed it to 6k rpms. Misfire on cylinder 5 Tons of smoke, my car smokes like a smoke grenade. Besides rings, what else could cause so much oil to burn in a combustion chamber? 800 miles on the rebuilt motor. RPMs are also fluctuating. I saw this once before, problem corrected itself. I will check the vacuum line going to the intake. ETA: Bore scope video shows con rod where piston should be. Major mechanical damage. Its a hard pill to swallow but I am done with this car. Bore scope video Spark plug from cylinder 5. Now it looks like I lost a valve or two. Timing is correct though. I am confused. |

WTF...in the video it looks like you're missing a piston. As you pull the camera up you can see the top of the rod where the wrist pin is supposed to be connecting the piston to the rod.
It actually looks like you blew a giant hole in the piston and, what little remains of it, is down at the bottom of the cylinder bore. That engine is done for. |

It looks like serious internal damage to the engine, exactly what stage tune/psi Were you running at just before this happened? |

I rebuilt it using the now the defunct newtis. I bought all of the special tools required...
Stock everything. Hell my turbos had shaft play but they still worked. I think I am done with my car. |
