Everyone & I mean everyone with an F95
I want to know what made you purchase an F95. Everyone has choices and I believe we can agree, no one NEEDS an F95 so I want to know what drove you to this decision.
Ill start . I have always liked fast vehicles that handle, emphases on handle. I always wanted a Corvette, especially the newest one, but for me a Corvette, Acura NXS, etc.. isnt practical. (for me anyway) Too small and nearly impossible in the snowy mountains where I visit every year in December or February. Also with low riding sports cars you always have to worry about speed bumps, uneven railroad crossings, entering & exiting driveways & parking when the curb you pull up to is too high; Then let the girlfriend / wife borrow the car who has no idea the front spoiler is too low. Opps .. sorry honey, I didnt know . Now enter the F95, all those problems solved. See..., this is the reason I purchased an F95, practicality in a good looking powerful vehicle that can handle. Enough said. Now I want to hear from you. I already know why most people purchased the G05, especially the 45E, so I want to hear from ALL and I mean ALL that purchased the F95. Even if its a short answer. (Example, I purchased cause I liked the color). and this goes for you also John & Charles. What made you purchase the F95?? |

Okay I'll bite,
When I test drove it I had the biggest smile on my face, this is why I buy anything I pretty much own. The details of comfort, speed, handling, and power all add up to the smile.

I'm a former generational owner of the M3 from the E46 to the latest F82. A wife and a couple of kids later, I found I wanted a daily driver that still could perform in a manner that the M3 could, so I went with a family hauler that had the M capability, and my kids LOVE it.

I came out of a 2015 F85 X5M. It was a logical choice for me. I loved everything about my F85 and love the F95 even more. Perfect SUV (or SAV) for a daily driver.

i'm a self-employed tax accountant, with staff, and clients who visit our office ... meaning certain brands are just out i.e. ferrari (dream car = 488 GTB), lambo, rolls-royce, bentley etc (maybe porsche, at a push)
so, next best option is the top model from BMW, audi, merc. bought the G05 40i in dec 18, loved it (gave that to my wife to replace her x3 20i, so she's happy!), moving on from a space grey x5 40d before that. logical step is a loaded x5m ... but MBB really makes it stand out in a good way, i've never had a V8 engine, and the comfort, space, fit and finish, tech all add up to a top quality car had lots of admiring comments, i like to think genuinely wishing me well rather than sarcastic / snidey! so its basically the nicest car that i can buy without all my staff asking for a pay rise, and all my clients checking their bills VERY carefully

It's a replacement for our current F15 X5 M50d. We need a car which takes three teenage boys and 2 large dogs. So my thought process was the following:
- Diesel unfortunately out as its going to be more difficult to shift in a few years (this side of the pond is uber negative on anything with a diesel engine) Although I still think that the M50d is a monster and the new quad-turbo engine is a masterpiece (gone too early)! - Then was looking at a well specced M50i - but for not much extra I could get the X5M... - Came to this forum and looked at all the reviews on the X5M - made my mind up and went for it! |

My Bmw life started when I got the first generation X5 in 2005. After that I got second gen then I switched to f10 M5 in 2012 which made me fall in love with M cars. But the M5 didnt suite me i felt like a giant in small car. After 2 years I dropped it and got the F15 x5 that didnt last long as it engine fail so I sent it back and was offered an X5M F85. From Jan 2016 until this day I drive my X5M in short I cant change now 🤣. Waiting for my 2021 to arrive next month.

I need the ground clearance and the size, want the speed and the agility, and this is about as much as I wanted to spend. After that was mostly a choice between this and GLE, and the Merc just looked very dated to me.

After 3 years with the 540i suddenly appeared new small princess in our home, so 5er seemed to be small and unpractical. Looking forward for my x5mc, hope asap! |

Going from a F85 X5M to F80 M3 6spd I was looking to get back into a bigger car. I also gave up a lot of luxury going to the M3 which I wanted back. Looking into the M5 and it just wasn’t that much more space. Bigger yes but not enough to change our day to day needs.
Originally decided a X5 M50i was enough and had it on order (94K build) since March.....then Covid delays happened. During the wait I started to put together a mod list of everything I wanted to change on the M50i to make it my own and look more special than your average X5. Quickly realized that I was easily going to spend another 10-15K on parts which made me think no matter what I do to this car I will always want the full M more. Looks special inside and out, faster, handles better, feels more direct like all M cars, exclusiveness. Once I saw pics of a Marina bay blue X5MC I was sold. The color was what did it for me. I first saw this color on a M5 and i couldn’t stop looking at it. Maybe I’m biased but i think it works even better in the big body X5M. I have never gotten so many compliment on the color of the car alone. I get comments on the road in traffic, gas stations, parked on the street all from random people that don't even strike me as being "car guys" Then there was the muscular lines of the front/rear. It’s the first car ive ever owned that has stayed stock for this long which is a testament of how well BMW nailed the F95’s design. Alan Last edited by Alan l.; 09-28-2020 at 08:04 PM.. |

Going from a fully loaded G30 530e to an X5MC. First baby later and lots of road trips to visit family - the trunk in the hybrid 5 was tiny and we found ourselves playing tetris to get everything into it.
We originally were looking at the X7... Was like driving a yacht. One extreme to another Ended up at Audi looking at an RSQ8, fell in love but was missing tech that we had in our older 5. The interior was also just not as special as the BMW. Checked out the RR SVR which is at the end of it's lifecycle - so no go - also not as quick. MB GLE53S - 2 MB dealerships were just awful to deal with... Must have been a bad day for both reps or something. It was definitely nice but nothing special or memorable - very similar to a standard GLE 350. Finally came full circle, found the X5M in the perfect spec and couldn't stop smiling after the test drive. Had all the tech, luxury, speed, cool factor, etc. Carbon black with the silverstone interior, Canadian exclusive package with pretty much every option ticked. Needed a new car for the wife. She test drove the Q5, GLC, GLE and X5 X40i. She loved the X5 by far out of all of them. I'm coming from a M3 and was originally going to get her the M50i but decided to wait a little and get the X5M. Sticker price for the M50i wasn't too far off from the X5M so why not get a M car instead?

Few things factored in for me:
1. My 2015 luxury line F15 air suspension was going which was the second thing this past year to make me question if the upkeep was worth keeping or trading in. 2. Have always been happy with the X5. 3. Porsche dealer didn't have any cayenne coupes for me to look at. 4. Wife wouldn't let me get a urus. 5. Not happy with the Q8 or comparable offerings from Mercedes. 6. G-wagons are pretty hard to get. 7. See 4.

How was that diesel? Those things are torquey. I drive a BMW diesel when i was in Germany and was impressed, and it wasn't an M so i can imagine the M50d. Were you impressed with the torque? |
