Tire size question

Has anyone done 255/45/20 and 275/40/20? I'm looking to go this route with aftermarket wheels. Instead of the rears being 1% taller than the fronts they would be 1% shorter. So 29/29.3 vs 29/28.7. I don't think there's any problem but wanted to check with the wise and all knowing. Thanks.

With those sizes youre exactly at 1% difference so you are OK to go with that setup. As long as you are 1% + or - with the F and R sizing specs you are fine to use it with the BMW X drive.

Link for reference I was just shown earlier this week for anyone interested for other sizes.

Im currently running 265/45R20 and 295/40R20 and there are no issues as well. Technically 255/45R20 fronts would have kept that 100% status quo, but I wanted a meatier tire up front.

It's good, but at the same time I never really had issues with the stock 21" wheels either. The added sidewall and width of the tires I'm sure made it more compliant of a ride, but the biggest difference is probably the weight reduction. I haven't been able to personally weigh both sets, but based on calculations it's about a 12lb reduction per front and 13.5lb per rear.

Thosw are complete OEM tire specs yes they definitely will work. But also depends on grip and style for anyone else going bigger.

Nice pic! Just curious, have you done launch control with this setup and did you have any issues with tire spinning or wheel hop?

I need a wider tire and thinking about going with Toyo R888r for the rear. My front wheel is 20x9 and rear wheel is 20x10.

I haven't done LC yet as I just recently got the RIS done. But in regards to off the line romps, I haven't had issues with wheel hop and traction feels good. Part of my change in the feel is due to the reduction in unsprung weight though (feels more responsive)

Did Toyo release some more 20" sizes for the R888r? Last I checked, all the sizes were too short. The widths are good but the aspect ratios where too thin.

Might be a silly question but visually think it will be noticeable that rears are a .5" shorter in height than stock rears?
