garage door opener won't program?

this is like my 3rd or 4th one of these and the procedure hasn't changed. hold outer two buttons to clear, press desired button, point opener at it, etc.

mine won't clear. holding the outer buttons doesn't seem to do anything, no green LED. sometimes i get a yellow LED for about 6 seconds, and then it turns off. what gives?

How long are you holding the two buttons? It seemed exorbitantly long for me...like 30 seconds. Then you hit and hold desired button while programming then test it

It's a pain, to make things worse I have a button I need to hold down on my garage door opener motor between the steps as well. I miss just being able to hold down the button on the mirror and the existing opener for a few seconds

I found I had to have the car running, clear, then I have to run click the learn button on my actual opener hanging in the garage and then run back and hold the button to program. That was the only thing that worked for me.

Is it a Genie opener? If so, mine actually did have a 2 step process. 1st hit the 'programming' button on the actually garage opener, then the mirror. Next take the existing remote and pair with the mirror
Painful...took me a couple go's

it's not, but it does have a learn button you have to hit.

so the issue (at least in my case) seems to be that i needed to have the car running (though the manual says "ready state"). got it to work, so there's that.

thanks all!

its a pain. i had to try about 20 times . also depends on your garage door - sometimes they need to have the learn button activated
