New Car + Winter Tire Question

Just traded in my 2018 BMW X6M Black Fire Edition for a 2020 X3M competition. The X6M was my dream SAV and loved having it. But unfortunately I only had it for 3-4 months.

When purchasing the vehicle (lease return) it was in really bad shape but I overlooked a lot and still went ahead with purchasing it and the dealership kept making promises to fix the cosmetic issues only for my sales guy to quit/leave and them not to own it.

Long story short, after multiple complaints BMW gave me back what I paid for the X6M + gave me the X3M competition at $1000 less then cost (roughly 15K less). So it was a no brainer to switch over.

I switched from a X3 m40 to X6M to go to a X3M. Excited to have the vehicle. Sucks that it is still ID6, and not full digital display but still an amazing system.

I dropped it off same day to get full front 3M and full cermatic coating done. It’s black on black. I feel for this colour type cermatic is a must. Especially since I am very picky and anal if i see the slightest scratch. It’s nice to have a new vehicle.

Question for the community. BMW wasn’t sure but i still own my winter tire setup from my 2018 X3m40.
245 45 20 (front)
275 40 20 (rear)

Will this setup for the X3M competition. BMW is quoting 6 grand for winter package for it.

I will post more pictures as soon as the coating is done!!

Thanks in advance and excited to be part of the X3M community!

May I ask what the dealership charged for 3M and ceramic coating? If it wasn't through the dealer, pricing would still be appreciated.

As far as the wheels, not sure if what you have will fit, but normally you want to run a square setup, 20" wheels and 255. Wider tires float on top of snow which isn't good. If you don't really use it in snow, just cold weather than I guess it doesn't matter too much. Either way, not sure if they fit.

The only difference in wheel/tire fit for X3 M40i and X3M is brake caliper clearance and the X3M has slightly taller diameter tires which doesn't really matter. So yes that should likely fit.

Hello, got it done in Calgary. It was an aftermarket shop called “Private Collection”. They did an amazing job. I will post pics. I paid $2200 CDN for full coating + 3M. For an extra $500 they were willing to put special windshield rock chip protection + cermatic coat interior but I opted not too.

Perfect, thank you for letting me know. Getting mixed feedback regarding this from everyone. Still debating just buying the 21 inch scorpion tires and putting them on for winter and new set for summer next year.

I am getting a set of 20's from Tuner Works. Pretty much half the price compared to dealer. However they are on replica wheels with Pirellis, not sure if that is what you are looking for.

Is anyone selling their 20in aftermarket wheels for a winter tires setup? Makes more sense than swapping each season.
