Hit up High Plains Raceway yesterday for the BMW CCA Driving School. Been probably 8 years since I've been back on the road course! For a heavy SUV, the X3M Competition really held up. My buddy's M3 and my X3MC. Some video too, have a watch.🏎. *my instructor in the Mustang GT350 ahead.

Another video outside the car:

Nice, what tire pressures did you begin at, and which 21" tires did you use?

30 all around. Managed the hot temps well at that starting temp. And yup on my stock 21's with the Continentals.

Thanks for sharing, forza1976 - really enjoyed watching the video. Were 'best times' recorded for your group (just curious how our X3MC stacked up against some of the smaller coupes and sedans)?

Oh man, I wish I had some to share. I definitely scrubbed them good but they seem to have worn not too bad. The rear brakes took some beating too, probably shaved some life off of those. This track is heavy on the left front with all the long right hand sweepers, so I probably actually needed a bit more pressure in that tire to combat some of the role over. But all in all, they faired well. Apologies that I don't have pictures.

Man there was quite a range. Not everyone was running timing apps or gear but the A group were in the low 2 minutes and some of the A Solo's were high 1:50's. I was in the B group where I did have a chance to pull on some of the 335's and previous gen bmw's. The GT350 ahead of me had a great driver and he had r comps so he was probably not working too hard. I will say that when I took over up front during lead follow, coming out of our turn three where I reached about 135 (other lap not on that video) he couldn't catch up under acceleration, but man in braking he was right there.

I'm a novice for sure, but I think this SUV did darn good. With some MSS springs and a more time on the track I think I could shave a number of seconds off my laps.

Actually even after a 60 mile drive home Sunday, here are some shots. Left front and left rear. And the brakes respectively.

Not bad at all, looks like we could all use some negative camber to really dial the tire wear and handling in, @ the track =)

Didn't those tires shimmy a lil bit on the way home at freeway speeds?

Yeah a bit honestly. I will get those scrubbed Friday this week as we are headed to another drag strip (~110 miles south of Denver) that is 900' lower in elevation to my normal track here in Colorado. Temps look decent so hopefully I can get some proper times to represent at 4900'.
