Brake dust

Is it just me or do the M brakes on these vehicles have crazy brake dust? I am coming from a car with Brembos and they had almost none.

When it comes time to replace the pads, are there any companies that sell aftermarket pads that fit but don't have the dust issue? Just crazy how after 100 miles of relatively easy braking, it looks like I've driven hard for 1000 miles

Out of curiosity, do they save any weight?

I doubt, they are huge. But the braking performance is insane.

Yes, all M pads throw off quite a bit of dust because they are very soft. Soft = performance.

My low dust brake pad is coming soon.
Will announce it once I have confirmation of delivery date.

Clearly you're not on commission with Brembo, but You can call Akra and let 'em know u scored one more axle back from me.

Although expensive for pads, the low dust ones RGSport sells have performed exceptionally well.

I barely notice any decrease in performance but a huge reduction in dust.

They have been performing so well I haven’t even bedded them yet.

The downside is you go longer before you HAVE to wash the car so Ive gotten lazy and the rest of the car is dirtier than usual

BMW OEM M brake pads provide an aggressive initial bite and extend rotor life - hence more brake dust. Brake dust is a cosmetic annoyance at best.

I think that BMW can come up with a better compound.

Also, it’s not only cosmetic. As the dust can eat through wheel finishes.

Though I suppose that can be considered cosmetic as well.

Has anyone tried using Pagid or Cool Carbon brake pads? I recall back in the day these were just as good as OEM but provide way less dust.

When I purchased, the RG Sport ones were the only available which I could find.

Not sure if anyone else is making pads for our X3Ms.
