X3m technical update UK DME
Hi guys posted this over in the coding and bmw warranty clampdown thread. (Uk section)
figured I'd ask here too. Pretty sure this update on DME was evident since lockdown but only now I got a dealer courtesy email to suggest it's complete. Bit worried about the bimmercode now! Here's the dilemma and my original post: Hi guys I have made some bimmercode changes on x3m such as led light colours and triviality like that. I got a few recalls to do it seems. Should I revert back to backup original config? I also have CarPlay full screen. I had my RIS in feb I think and it's due a service next July 2021. Not sure what to do. Thanks "As part of ongoing quality analysis at BMW, it has been established that you have an outstanding safety campaign that requires completion: Program control units (DME |

Email from Bath two weeks ago?
I have a feeling it's to check for any coding since it's DME update.

I think I had these same alerts you posted about a few months ago but the BMW website doesn't call them out anymore. Have you had any work done? Might call my preferred dealer (cooper cobham now) and ask tomorrow. Think I will reset my bimmercode before dealer visit on the service (I have full screen hack for CarPlay but spoke to kubax86 and I should be ok on this as it was factory installed. I had mine in for the DME I was glad I hadn't done any coding with it as I did with my 740d.
I think the default position has to be no coding or remapping from now on unless you want to stand in on the warranty. One issue I feel is, people that have put a tune on BM3 etc...when they do the DME recall they are buggered as it will flag or even on a service etc...I know the US if different but most in the UK PCP for 3-4 years and move on what will BMW say about the tune when you hand it back are they going to say it's yours wear it? Or have to knowingly sell a previously tuned and flagged car in the network... I think they have opened up a bit of an issue since they have changed their "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

So, I had my RIS done on 28.Dec and DME updated at same time. I had some coding applied and it was wiped during the update. No mention of any flags.
I have just checked onling and "There is an open technical enhancement on this vehicle. Please go here to book an online appointment for your vehicle selecting "service as required" or contact your local retailer here for more information. Enhancement code 0012240500" is this another DME? Or something else? I have not had any emails or contact from the dealer....thinking i will just leave it. |

Enhancement code 0012240500 I did a google search and I see this thread. I think I might wait too. I believe it's another DME update. After all my car had a RIS end of feb if it was important I'd expect a letter. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showt...570&page=2 |
