Methanol ...

Someone has a methanol install?

What kind of setup ?

You run 50/50?
Full methanol?
Experience to share?

Nothing to add from me but I would like to ask if anyone runs pure water injection 100% H2O no meth.

Boostjuice is difficult to source where I am and distilled water is easily found everywhere here. I’m willing to leave some power on the table but i dont know if there can be other unforeseen problems (crud growing in the water tank without meth?)

The M4 GTS uses water only right?

We have methenol from BMS. 60% meta to 40% water. Nobody pours clean water in this configuration.

Just wondering why? The M4 GTS uses straight distilled water right?

Is it a huge power penalty or more a safety thing?

Has anyone used a straight water injection system ? If so how much power/safety/boost/timing are you giving up by not using meth ?

I’m in HK and the only source I know of that sells meth/water mix for WMI applications is like 30USD per gallon which is like 3-4 times as expensive as “boost juice” in the United States. For a consumable it is a bit hefty and the reliability of this source for providing this supply into the future isn’t particularly high.

Roughly how much power does WMI give on an otherwise stock hardware B48 or B58 with a hi-flow catted downpipe ? How much less would straight water give ?

Edit: Oh friggin ... I forgot this is the M5 sub ....

What are the intake air temps like for the M5 ?

I think the M4 GTS uses straight water because their IATs get to like 70c so you actually get quite a bit of water vaporizing as you inject it (vaporizing water takes away much more energy/heat than heating up water). If the M5 intakes are similarly hot, water could be a feasible solution.

On the B48/B58s I think the IATs are much lower like 50c, so water won’t really vaporize, but methanol will which is why I think a lot of the B48/B58 guys go for full meth setup.

Wow quite low

Maybe it's just because my ambient is like 95f (35c) that I'm not use to seeing that.

My IATs hover at 122f (50c) on a B48 even on stock boost levels.

I would say try 50/50 first and then get a tune to really make use of it first.

Pure meth is pretty nasty stuff and 50/50 mix is available pretty readily in the states.
