G01 X3 rear question
Evening fellas
Going to BMW tomorrow to test drive at an X3 m20d and trading in my F80 M3 (I know, just don't.) I never drive the M3, it was bought as a toy then my missus fell pregnant and got rid of her car and she uses it for work every day so it's racking up the miles and has the MPE with the valves locked open so it burns through petrol like there's no tomorrow. I had my heart set on an X5 until I looked over both those and the X3 and couldn't see the justification in how much the monthly cost went up, hence why I'm not too fussed about only taking the 20d instead of the 30d as it's not really me driving it. My only gripe however is the exhaust tips. I know, it's ridiculous and nobody else can seem to understand why I'm so bothered but the surrounds on the X5/X3 m40i just look 100x better. Is this an easy rear bumper switch and muffler tip change, or is it a full exhaust system? Thanks in advance |

Sorry mate, it's the 20d but with m sport plus package. I might've labelled that wrong! Basically it comes with the blacked grills, bigger wheels etc. However still has that awful round single exhaust either side of the rear bumper |

So looks like the 20d msport does not have the silver rear diffuser, but a black one, right? So thats not too bad. Basically you do not like the single silver round tailpipes. Pretty sure you can simply replace the tips for black ones. However for Quad pipes, I think (1) might need a change to the diffuser and (2) some welding of quad exhaust pipes into existing exhaust. Maybe someone has done this here or experts can chime in. I know one of our Aussie friends put in quad exhausts on a M40i (no diffuser change).

Hi mate,
You need to change the diffuser and you can just bolt on exhaust tips as the round ones come off. Your exhaust is 70mm so just find quad tips that will fit. Not many options but I bought ones for mines just waiting on the diffuser coming as they sent the wrong one. Will update you with pics once the correct diffuser comes. |
