My 2011 X3 Veers to right and left on highway
My 2011 X3 veers to right or left on highway speeds. I can not keep car straight unless I constantly turn steering wheel slight right or left. Problem started in mid 2019 with change Front struts and mounts. BMW dealer and also separate mechanic say they can not detect anything wrong. Short distances does not show issue. Only when car is driven for a while and at higher speeds.

I can think of 3 possibilities:
1. Verify tire pressures. You ban see this wandering behavior when tires are over inflated. 2. Wheel alignment is way off...especially toe-in. Alignment should have been done after change of front struts. Alignment should be checked and adjusted as needed. 3. Check the wear/tread depth on the front tires. Same tread depth on edges compared to center of tire? Wandering behavior can occur with abnormal tire wear...especially with excessive wear on tire edges compared to center of tires. If I had to make a guess the alignment is way off and you may have some abnormal tire wear as a result. |
