Have to sell my baby.....Sell as is or part out???
So I got a job iin Sydney Australia and will be moving in December. I had planned on shipping my car there and just dealing with LHD in RHD country since these cars sell for well over $100k down under. However, I've recently found out that I would have to convert the car to a RHD on top of the $10-15k I would be paying in taxes and shipping.
So I just wanted to get some input on whether I should part out the car or just sell it as is. The car will probably have around 35,000 miles on it by time December rolls around. How much do you think the car would sell for with all the mods still on it considering the mileage? I would rather just sell as is as long as I get a decent price. I may take the chip, intake, DV's off since those seem to be the big red flags when it comes to warranty issues. Any input would be helpful. IF I DO PART OUT IT WON'T BE UNTIL DECEMBER SO PLEASE NO PM'S OR OFFERS YET

your car is a beauty, as far as mods go i would take them out and sell them on the forum, most people when they see mods on the car either don't care for them or think that the car was some sort of a street racer and stay away from it. just my opinion...

I will definitley consider parting out the mechanical stuff but as far as cosmetic.....I would only consider doing the trunk since it is the only non-BMW part. I didn't keep any of the old body panels since I didn't think i would be selling the car anytime soon. I would only consider Parting out the body with local people with Space Gray so I could swap out panels with them.

Parting out cost a good amount of $$. Downpipe install alone is around $300. I just sold my 335 completely modded for 40k. Which i am happy with. Hell the sticker was 44k

Parting it out always nets you more money - as good as your car looks it is to your taste and to everyone else it is just stuff they don't want to pay for. It is also much easier to sell a stock car, so essentially you will get as much if not more for the car stock and have an easier time selling it and you get all the money for the mods that people will snap up in a heartbeat!
Good luck in Oz - put in for those Top Gear tickets now!!

I have always parted out all of the cars that I modded in the past. Granted, I work on the car myself so I don't have to pay for labor, but it was always worth it for me to put the car back to stock and part it out. With my last car I was able to get back $15k after parting it out.
BTW, I'm sorry to see you have to sell your car as it looks extremely clean. You did a nice job modding it. Best of luck with whatever you go with next.

WOW your space grey coupe is beautiful thats exactly what I wanted mine to look like before the market made my day even worse lol.
Just a quick question if you would be nice enough to answer. How dark are your windows? I'm getting mine tinted soon (hopefully). Good luck with the parting out... |

That will be one of the first things to go. I still have the orginal trunk so it will be an easy swap.

I would usually say part it out and sell it stock, but I think you did a awesome job cosmetically with the car that it looks like something BMW would do themselves, considering most of the extras are oem, so you might get a good offer if you kept it like that. Maybe put the stock 18's back on and sell the reps. Beautiful car........

So what happens when you part it out, and the poor sucker who buys the now "stock" car goes to take the car in to BMW for service and traces of your Procede V3 rear their ugly head and void his warranty? Will you disclose past mods at the time of sale, or is he/she on their own? It just seems a bit duplicitous to be pulling all of the red flags off of the car before you sell it.
