What is the BMW design department smoking?

Oh my GOD......you bought an Edsel!!!!!! How can BMW take a decent looking 4 door sedan and completely F... up the front of it? Ford made the same mistake in 1957 and discontinued the model in 1959. The only advantage is that the look of the new model will make our earlier designs more desirable.

I presume that the visual is pure artist impression of CAR and not based on any real sightings yet. At least, I hope so!

So what do you think about the f90's chances as a collectors item in the future? As it sits, it'll be the last of the pure V8s before the beaver teeth grilles take over.

I don't know what to think about this section in the article:

Comments a member of the M Division R&D team: “The Bavarian Motor Works are latecomers to the EV scene, and the same applies unfortunately to autonomous driving. Mid-term, our only stable competitive advantage is ride, handling and roadholding. But the biggest challenge by far is cost, which is why the board has buried the projected halo car.”

So they admit they missed the most important industry shift of all times, but their main concern now is costs!? Doesn't look good.

Yet another indication that the current BMW that sits in my garage will be my last. Looks aren't everything, but that is hideous.

That is the laziest render I’ve ever seen, they didn’t even use the grill from the G82. And what is that thing on the C-pillar, is it a Nissan Altima?

I'am afraid it does. But it requires a serious mental adjustment... which not everybody is up to.

Zero. Nothing about the F90 is pure or the 'last of'. And I don't believe the M cars will get the big grill treatment. As BMW has already said, only certain models will get that grill.

Maybe you haven’t seen the G8X M3 and M4, but they definitely have the big grills.

Although I adore the visceral ICE behaviour and thrills, I was already surprised that the F90 was not launched as a PHEV in the first place. Because the imposed emission laws are non negotiable, they have to switch rather brisk to full BEV in the next generation. Call me stupid, but I believe the article makes sense.

My personal thoughts are that the F90 will be the last M5 with a V8 engine in it...
