Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All Season tires impressions
Got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All season tires fitted to my X3M last week (in stock sizes).
So far, seems like a big upgrade over the Conti's that the car came with. I notice no reduction in dry handling performance and wet traction is excellent. Tire Rack tested the tires in light snow, and they outperformed "best in class" AS tires by a wide margin: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=257 Initially the ride was a bit harsh with 33 psi front, 38 psi rear, but after reducing to 32 psi front, 35 psi rear the ride seems much better. |

Haven't had a chance to test much on the HW yet with window down due to lots of rain over the last 4 days. Will report back once things dry out. |

Keep in mind that the AS 4 is a brand new model, previously Michelin had a AS 3 and AS 3+ which were likely similar, but not the same. These appear, based on the Tire Rack test, to do better in the snow. I've seen some initial reports from SQ5 and Telsa owners on these tires and so far all positive things to say.

Not sure I get All Seasons?
They don't do anything well. I've got the summer MPS4S's and they are epic, a big upgrade over the stock Contis. But why sacrifice performance for all year average performance? For me it would make more sense to have winters and swap over when the conditions get bad?

If these had been out when I got my X3MC I may have gone this route.
Instead I got a dedicated winter wheel/tire set. In Long Island NY we used to get snow but we have hardly gotten anything over the past 10 years. Most of my desire to get winters was because the cold performance on Contis is terrible. I started to lose grip below 50 degrees. |

I just had these installed on my X3MC, ditching the stock Continentals after 6800 miles. These tires are terrific. They take just enough of the edge off the ride, making the vehicle more compliant on rough roads in town. It is still firm, but I'd say more comparable to other M cars/sports cars I've owned or driven and less punishing than it was on the Contis. The ride has settled down and is less jittery/bouncy, highway speeds are smoother on all surfaces. The tires are a tad bit quieter at low speeds but are comparable in noise at highway speeds to the Contis. The steering weight is a tad lighter but the feedback through the wheel has improved dramatically from the Continentals across all steering modes. No noticeable change in handling or corners in everyday driving, but my car won't see the track. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for ride quality improvements.

I got them. It will fix your rough ride.... first good point
I did install 265/40/21 all around... so now I have 45,000 miles Michelin Warranty ahahha I sold my brand new used Conti for $500 and that that set of Michelin for $1,300 with discount tire protection - $500...What else can you ask for? Again, it will fix your rough ride by 50% minimum |
