...in broad daylight. Scumbag took my mountain bike and my child seat. Alarm went off but seemingly no one paid any attention. Unbelievable.

Sad times. I parked in a nice neighbourhood too. Some meth head will have sold the bike for a $20 hit no doubt. |

Oh Man, so sorry to hear. Glad you and your family weren't harmed. I agree, this was a BOLD move. Had to be desperate for someone to do this.

When I was going to a few BMW dealers a few months ago, looking to see what they had on their lots, I found it very difficult, if not impossible to see through the rear hatch window and rear side windows. Was your cargo cover closed or open? Did it happen during the day or night? Just seems strange that this would have happened out of the blue. |

Who remembers the James Bond car alarm? Break a window and the Lotus blows up. Need that!

Sorry are you saying that him breaking into someone's car and stealing a mountain bike and car seat is justified because you assume he had a need for these items, and shouldn't be punished for blatant theft?

I've only had a car broken into once in my life. Had cars in several continents and multiple cities. The one time was Vancouver last December. Nothing inside the car to steal. Not a single thing.

No one with any sense is saying defund all police and that we shouldn't have police at all. People are saying that police budgets shouldn't grow unchecked just like the military budgets do, like its become a third rail to even debate if policing budgets need the same scrutiny as budgets in ALL other sectors get. People are saying, rightfully so, that some of that police money can go to train social workers and other interventions that don't require a police presence when you call 911. that's it. This constant misinterpretations of what people are actually proposing and the foxnews/am talk radio slippery slope talking points just to scare folk is beyond annoying and counterproductive.
On topic: I don't think he had his cargo cover up. you can't if you had a mountain bike in there. Because of my constant fear of my car being broken into, I never ever leave anything out on the seats or footwells, even if its a 5 minute trip to the grocery store or whatever. I stow it in the trunk and close the privacy screen (that auto cargo cover option is a literal godsend). |

On a serious note, anything could happen anywhere. I live in a prettyyy decent neighborhood and somebody stole my motorcycle parked on the corner by my house. On a sunday - to be fair it was parked since saturday, dont ask. |
